Range device for PATH and Attack

Recommended Posts

I am interested in a range device that can provide trackman-like information on PATH and ATTACK.

Might be asking too much!

I read the Garmin R10 thread, and it looks promising, but since patch, attack, and face are calculated, I might not get an actual constant.

Is there a good personal option yet, or is the technology still too far away?

Path and AoA are measured on the R10, it's face angle that's calculated. When I had one I found path very good with R10, AoA seemed pretty reasonable after one of the later firmware updates but was sketchy early on.

I thought it was measured on the R10 as well but there was a post elsewhere saying path was calculated.

The comparison videos I’ve seen suggest it does a decent job on club data.

Since the OP said this was for the range I would save the $4500 - $4800 compared to GC3 and go with M+ Pro Package. As always - with proper set up the path and AoA numbers - plus FTP, FTT - should be very accurate. Anything outside and the extra money for the GC3 is not worth it IMO.

This, don't cheap out on such a thing.  You won't get accurate or consistent readings and it won't help your game any.  It will just create frustration.  GC3 does exactly what you want and it does it well.

Bingo. Buy once, cry once. It's pricier, but you will never question the accuracy and reliability.

Yes but... if I was spending that money, I wonder how long it would be before I started wondering about measured face to path......

An educated user can get a good idea of what the face is doing based off the start direction, spin axis, and path. You can at the very least deduce if you are open/closed to the path and open/closed to the target.

Yeah, I have since switched over to a BLP as I decided to build an indoor sim but did not notice any large difference in the path or AoA numbers I'm seeing. Spin numbers are an entirely different story though, =).
