Shibuno was constantly applauding Hyo Joo Kim's good shots.

Great sportsmanship.

Became big fan of her after this tournament. I suppose her attitude is for real, not some mental hacks. I feel Shibuno and In Gee Chun have the best attitude on tour based on my limited knowledge.

The Japanese applaud their opponents' good shots -- happened with Yuka vs Nasa at the US Open too, for example... if you follow the JLPGA, this is very common... No different than Shota doing the "Bow" after Hideki won Masters (it's nothing unusual)...

The other person that I think has a good attitude (by watching TV) is Ash Buhai -- if you watched the 2019 Open, she applauded Hinako's birdie putt (granted Buhai was out of contention by then, but still....)

Some of the LPGA players that I root for (or will never root against) due to their attitude (this time based on first/2nd hand info), as I mentioned briefly already include: Ingee, Cheyenne, Matilda, Jillian (Hollis), Sarah S... amongst others (biased opinion of course, bec, well, 1st/2nd hand info).

The "bigger" stars I don't know very well but make no mistake,  I root "against" players who take forever to play (just my own pet peeve -- I will leave that to the posters here to figure out -- hint: one is a Spaniard! LOL)

I've always been a fan of Hinako (and some other JLPGA pros ---  I go to Japan to watch them live if I can, until this pandemic happened!) .... but more so Hinako who had the "courage" to move to the LPGA.  Hopefully I can go back in 2022/2023 again to see some future "JLPGA transplants" when the do eventually play the LPGA, like Hinako and Ayaka this year...  Tidbit: Hinako broke up with her "boyfriend" as a result of making it to the LPGA haha...

Andrea Lee is back to her good golf-self this year;  she won Epson Tour two weeks ago and finished a 6-way T12 at LPGA this week.

She'll receive 56.83 CME points this week and is #84 on current year CME list.  Hopefully she can Monday qualify one of the next three tournaments and get herself back into LPGA via the "Current Year Top-80" category at the first reshuffling.

Father knows (her game) best (it seems).  She's won the Epson tour with her father on the bag and achieved this result this week with him on the bag again! 👏

Congrats to Hyo Joo Kim

Hyo joo and Shibuno were both really solid here this week, Shibuno has found a little grove playing well the last couple events.  Again, I enjoy a tough test, I just think this was out of control.  Mistakes were made IMO, perhaps not understanding what most women would be hitting in, under these condition.  For me when judging this event, I look at what is common with other event and what is uncommon ......... what's uncommon was the start of every broadcast this week "well, everybody is gonna miss a lot greens this week", they don't normally say at all lol  ........ which kinda tells something went sideways this week but to be fair the event was only scheduled at this course a little over a month ago.

I just caught the Hyo Joo hula  and was impressed! As a former dance teacher, I saw promise in her graceful hand interpretations.  No accompanying hip movement, however, but that must be attributed to simply a lack of confidence. Charming in her efforts! I would love to see JY Ko's texts to her afterwards. 🪰

The “HyoJoo Hula”= 💃 at the end of this video ...

albeit also saw a response tweet that opined

"You don’t make the

@pga winner so this, so why subject the women to this?!"

Enjoyed the commentary for this event, a couple of observations:

I like Mark Rolfing’s delivery and being the local who knows how to say the place names, he sure liked saying the course’s name with some emphasis on each syllable: HO-AK-A-LEI. I started looking forward to him saying it!

He seemed impressed with the women’s driving, but didn’t clarify if he was referring to it only on the golf course.

Grant must be on a KPI bonus for how many times he can mention ‘Major Champion’ eg “here’s a group with two major champions”. Relentless.

All good fun though.
