Well it does make a huge difference in what flex a person plays. As I'm sure most know. I was just surprised to see it was a stiff and not an X. Mostly because I know he like most tour players swing speed for driver is at 113 or higher. I didn't notice the + just saw the S and was thinking they were just a stiff shaft.

The C-Taper S+ is more stout than an X100 and better IMO than the C-Taper 130 X unless you're a super high speed guy. This is the shaft Justin Rose played forever. Great blend of stability with still a bit of workability and spin instead of rebar C-Taper 130x's.

I would agree with this.  I've played the TI s400 in my irons and wedges for a few years now, and I have a hard time loading the C Tapers.  It's a good shaft if it works for you, but it's not one that works for me.

Thanks for the info. I've only played PX 6.5 or the X100 so I really don't have much insight on the C taper. Also, as I said I didn't see the plus just the S so that's why I made the question.

Rickie defender here lol he can do no wrong in my eyes

- shafts he has played before. The issue with the ball change has always been his iron spin/ launch and how the ball comes off the putter

- this is why he has been changing so much with the putter as it doesn’t react how he imagines

- this is also why we have seen so many iron head and shaft combos. He used to play these shafts for years before originally changing to the S400 Ti shaft so this isn’t a huge change

- looking at the clubs and shaft labels I would nearly bet these are actually an old set of irons?

These are actually old shafts for him, as mentioned the C-Tapers are stout and the S+ is the more common variant on tour with the X occupying the same territory as the PX Rifle 7.0.

Yeah you'll see X100s in all sorts of bags from higher to lower swing speed, but you basically never see the C-Taper X in anything but high speed beasts.

As soon as the switch to the TM ball happened he began tinkering with shafts and heads to get back to the same spin/launch windows. Maybe he will drop one of his x number of sponsors and puts the prov back into play.

Unfortunately, this won't ever happen. TM would be willing to pay him 3 times more than Titleist just so they dont have the negative feedback of him leaving them and going back to play well. If anything I wouldn't imagine TM picking him up as a full staffer and making it work for him. Cobra is exceptional but they dont have the same resources and budget as TM so will be interesting. Titleist launches higher and spins more. A lot of ways to get higher launch and spin but in a tight window is never easy. Maybe the softer shafts are what's helping get this ball flight right?

Cobra saw Rickie pick up the TM Spider GT a few tournaments ago and said...."hold up, wait a minute", we got something for you.

Definite Catch 22 there though. On one hand, I doubt they'd offer much to a guy going through such a protracted slump. On the other, if he starts to find it again then I doubt a big equipment change would be welcome in the midst of that. The dude can still wear out a sweet spot though, hope he finds competitive form again.

Here we go again, why does it interest anyone what RF is playing, Maybe he picked up a Spider putter hoping that TM would want to sign him since he plays their ball. Another missed cut coming up.

Flex "Rating" is basically meaningless. There is no industry standard. To me, an X100 feels wayyy (and it is) softer than a C-taper 130X.

he has been using a mallet for most of the year

So you agreed with Lenny?  He hasn’t exactly lit it up for the “most of the year” he’s used the mallet.

Personally I hope he turns it around.  He seems to be one of the good guys.
Could just be the course persona and ads but I’ve never read anything negative about him other than recent poor play and commercial shoot time(which is a ludicrous complaint imo).

One of the best feeling shafts I've ever hit.  I just loved it.

But the LZ fit my tempo a bit better and my launch needs a lot better.  Played the C Tapers in a set of G25.  High launch iron heads, with low launch low spin shafts.  It was a fun and surprisingly dangerous combo.
