Broken Ventus TR

Just switched to the TR in driver and 3 wood, will be following this thread.  Great to see a Fujikura staff member commenting and relating the issue back to other staff.   My guess is they will do the right thing....

Hi all - sorry to see the breakages on TR. We're monitoring this thread and will be having some internal discussions ASAP.

As a retired customer service manager for 2 International companies my free advice is to have some external settlements pronto. My Fuji’s all work fine but my swing speed will be dropping with age I guess.

I’m a lurker on here, but figured I’d finally post on a relevant thread. Ordered my Ventus TR from a Chartered Dealer and finally go it out to the range today. Absolutely loved it over the Ventus blue for about 15 or so balls. Then snap, ball flew great, so did my club head.

6-S and you dare post on GolfWRX? Another benefit of playing (T)X flex; the thicker materials prevent breakage.

But seriously, I hope all innocent parties get looked after and I'm quite curious about the technical reason for this happening.

Great observation, I was hoping the Speed sticks and the youtube videos would get me to 8-TX before I had to post, ha!

Hoping this gets worked out as well, or at least as you mentioned, a technical explanation. There is certainly some statistical significance in this thread, all of the posted pictures appear to have broken in a similar fashion in the same area (out of warranty) of the TR shaft.

Wow!  This is looking a lot less coincidental.  There has to be an issue with these shafts.

Recently had one broken to me while shipping.  To be clear, this was never played, was broken when it arrived.  Box was somewhat damaged so to be clear, this is 100% on UPS.  I'm only sharing this because it's really odd that the shaft broke in the exact same spot as others are posting here.  There seems to be a weak point in the shaft at that location and this is definitely worth monitoring.

What concerns me is the total  radio silence by Fujikura.  I’m hoping they will honor a full refund for these.  How can they expect anyone to play a shaft thats one swing away from destruction.  I certainly can’t play that way.  Along with that these shaft have lost all of their value, no way to recoup anything for one on the secondary market.  Extremely frustrated with their lack of action, pretty obvious there’s a major design flaw.

To be fair they did say they would be looking into on Friday. Sometimes it does take a little time and meetings to come up with a plan of action. I’ve DM’d the rep here offering any additional info or pics to help out so will keep this updated. Mine snapped over a month ago and I had written it off but hoping with the recent revelations we get some sort of replacement.

I am absolutely LOVING my TR. I'm going to forget I saw these 🤣

I went the other direction. Confidence is the shaft is somewhat reduced so I swapped back to my ATMOS. Hoping to hear back from Fujikura sometime soon on this one. I really liked the TR for the short period of time that I played it.

I had a Black 6 TX break on me last week in the same relative area.  I put a little pressure on it after hitting a drive a little further left than I wanted to, but I didn't throw it, hit anything with it, or snap it across my knee, I simply grabbed the grip and the head and bent it a little.  I didn't put a ton of pressure on it, but it snapped dead in the center.  I thought it odd because I have had that reaction 1000 times, but never broken a club that way, yet this one snapped.  I didn't even bother calling Fujikura because of where it broke and how things happened, but this thread certainly makes me wonder if there isn't an issue.

Would be interesting to know whether the material wrapped around the metal mandrel before curing is done spirally or aterally ? Fuji ??? If the former, since the shafts appear to fail in the same area, I’d be looking at dodgy wrapping process. If the latter, then the material itself needs looking at e.g delamination. Perhaps the failure point is where the maximum sheer force is applied.

A poster above made a good point about securing in a vice, when regripping I avoid using a vice,

Agreed Fujikura Needs to step up to the plate on this issue....It's clearly not just a 1 off thing.

From golf shaft reviews on the Ventus TR: Typical for Fujikura shafts the average radial consistency is 98.5% with a standard deviation of 0.8%. I would expect more from a premium shaft, but it is no surprise as I often see shafts with a high 0 – 90 CPM difference from Fujikura. They must not pay much attention to this aspect of shafts as I am told the shafts distributed on tour are not much different.

Me: Maybe QC is an issue. High demand product with supply chain issues? You either raise prices, cut corners, make people wait longer than they want to, lose money, or a combination of all the above. If the Ventus TR is Their best selling product they should price it like the Tensei Pro Orange when it came out ($400+) and guarantee that it’s perfect

Lot of truth in this post. I'm nobody, but I do wonder if they just aren't set up for this type of volume. Not too long ago, Fujikura was a high-end, almost boutique type shaft. Go to the range or course any given day, and you might not see a single one in someone's bag.

At least that's how it was when I got into them back when the Rombax was their flagship. Which I still have and is still a great shaft. Now, they're a stock offering for a bunch of brands. I can't imagine how much their volume must have gone up over the past 5 years or so. And it's not unusual to see QC go down as volumes go up.

My black 6TX snapped today. Down by the hosel. Used less than two months.

Wow!  This can't be coincidence imo.  I wonder how many outside of the wrx community are experiencing this?

On another note, with this knowledge who would buy a premium expensive shaft that isn't being warrantied and is consistently breaking?  At this point Fujikura can step up and help out (it's been too long already) or write off future customers.

I'm sure this thread will pop up when a prospective customer does an internet search for Ventus.

Dang. Was hoping this was confined to the TR models, as the driver I just picked up has a non-TR blue. But after that last post it looks like that might not be the case.

Glad I still have the Rombax I pulled from my old driver as a backup.

When the TRs are breaking, they are breaking pretty consistently in the area shown in some of the pics on this thread. That non-TR broke up towards the handle, which I believe is more of the break that typically happens when there is a break.

I have seen and heard about TR breaks too (outside of WRX).

I’ve reached out to Fuji both here with a message and directly through their web site.  No response from either.  This is my first/last Fujikura shaft.  Their customer service is well non existent.
