High lofted driver cranked up with a closed face in draw setting. We have so much in common! Well at least one thing.

 

Of course he may not be starting from a stock neutral setup, but wild settings nonetheless.

I think Leishman plays a draw biased Cally head and he’s a fader. It allowed him to rip it and still control it. Rahm also a fader plays around 11 degree driver.

If I remember correctly, I read somewhere that even with those hosel adjustments they’re not what they appear. Trottie has posted his spec sheet before and if I can correctly recall there was some bending going on.

DJ has said in the past he needs to see a shut face with the driver in order for him to hold the face off and hit a fade, I know it's weird but it came straight out of his mouth

Hosel adjustments can certainly be deceiving since we don't know the sleeve adjustment range (1*, 1.5*, 2* etc) or the starting specs like loft, lie angle, and face angle. However there wouldn't be any bending involved with an adjustable club as there is nothing to bend. Glued hosel fairways will often be bent however.

Not really that strange IMO, this kind of thing is true for a number of guys. DJ probably has the least amount of face rotation in his swing of anyone on tour so in all likelihood he wants the face pointing close to where the ball needs to start, which for him off the tee is slightly left. From there it's all about holding on to the face and clearing his lower body as hard as he wants without fear of the ball leaking right.

DJ probably has the least amount of face rotation in his swing of anyone on tour so in all likelihood he wants the face pointing close to where the ball needs to start, which for him off the tee is slightly left. this is a fine nuance that only a player would feel...for my case when I play grips that are less tapered like a +4 MCC i will draw the ball more because it "feels" like the face is moving slower, causing my hands to be more active. DJ's case and mine are definitely not conventional

I've heard that guy's that natural have a lot of shaft lean at impact set drivers up like this. Pushing your hands too far forward delofts and opens the face. So that setting makes sense. When I was younger (15 years ago or so) I used to caddy for a guy who played a 12° driver. He hit low missiles with it. It's all how you deliver it.

Putter lasted a day.  He really did not seem to roll it poorly, just not reading the greens correctly.  

His routine that he used last year seems nonexistent, atleast from the coverage, that he did with Farnsworth.

Sam Snead was exactly like that too. He used a 16* driver and hit low scorching bullets with it
