I wish PGA would follow suit with some other sports leagues and just do their own coverage. Like how you can get the NBA League Pass and watch all the games live or  whenever you want, no ads. I think NFL has something similar too?

This whole bifurcated broadcast between different providers in some countries, or monopolies in others is a right pain and doesn't serve golf fans well.

Can't compare golf with those other sports. NBA/NFL/MLB is much easier to cover, the venues don't change every week and far fewer cameras are needed. Most of those arenas even have their own production facilities, not going to have that at a golf course that at most might have 2 events in a year, likely not even that.

Everything is crap. Cheap crappy plastic crap, TV is crap, the Internet is 97.3% crap, social media is crap, crappy software that doesn’t work, the DMV is crap, restaurant service is crap, fast food is crap, drivers on the road are crap, roads are crap, customer service is crap, automated answering that tells you to listen because their menu has changed is crap and so on.

Crap is the new normal and it’s going to get worse. So, I guess we just have to accept it.

Your post is crap.

(just kidding...  I agree except about accepting.  Fight the power!)

What??

First, I'm amazed to read "Fred Couples" in the same sentence as the word "academic", but what on earth did he admit to??

Fred would agree with you, he was never a good student and if golf didn't work out he'd probably be doing landscaping (nothing wrong with that).

Trying to find video of it and not seeing any. But essentially Fred was saying the swim team at University of Houston would take tests for him.

I’ve got an idea.

Crowdsource coverage with people using live feeds from their phones. The person holding the phone gets to do their own commentary. It would probably be funnier.

Pick a hole from the site menu showing the feed.

It would still be crap, but not Joe Buck level of crap.

Isn't that how the Norman/Saudi regime league is providing coverage?🤣

While I see where you are going, one has to remember this isn't being broadcast out of the goodness of their hearts.  They are making money off us by doing this.  Ergo, if their product is subpar, criticizing it is not some lack of perspective.

A large portion of the complaining was the fact they were making Woods out to be more courageous than people who stormed beaches on d-day.   The perspective was completely lacking imo.  The afternoon broadcast seems much better.

The commentary on Tiger didn’t make him out to be courageous or a hero, so that’s just anti-Tiger whining and nothing more, nothing less.

There was accurate notice and appropriate concern about him appearing to be playing hurt after a certain point in the round, which he acknowledged post-round.

Some folks can’t get over the guy is actually back and trying to compete.

No idea what you guys are complaining about!  The ESPN Plus coverage is excellent--- there's like 5 or 6 different live video feeds.

You all sound like a bunch of spoiled crybabies. 🤣

Hawkeye has spoken.  So let it be written, so let it be done.

Not sure what broadcast you were watching, but it wasn't the same one I saw.  But ok, you declare it to be not so.

Y'know....that could be fantastic TV.

I remember seeing clips of open access TV or something from America in the 80s. I'm picturing the same level of awkwardness, but with higher quality video.

It might work!🤣

I agree. One thing that was overlooked was the movie industry. Almost everything now is written at a comic book level, we have mostly superhero plots,  and the special effects are all CGI crap. I gave up on comic books when I was about 12 in favor of actual books. Now they call them "graphic novels". Riiight.

I hate to make this generational because then it sounds like old-guy grumbling (which in truth it is) but as I have gotten older I fear for our future.

I mean, Soloman's tirade is right up there with Howard Beale's rant in Network (speaking of making this generational, a movie from 1976).

So we shouldn't expect network coverage to be as good as a paid offering, even though both are being provided by the same network? Got it.

The Masters & CBS are able to give everyone the BEST coverage without jumping through monetary hoops, yet the other majors can't even come close.

I have an internal septic tank. And it can’t be emptied.

After 70 years of taking in all this crap, my tank is full.

I have no more room for crap, so I respectfully ask that the world give its crap to someone else.

Sincerely,
