I like them a lot, but they aren’t Edel wedges. Edel simply makes the best

I've had every line of vokey wedges along with some Zipcores mixed in between in the past two years and the SM9s are my favorite ever. I've always just gotten off the rack or ordered with S400 but this time pulled the trigger on the fully raw set with Tour Issue S400 in 50.12F, 54.12D, and 60.10S. I love them.

So I bought my set of vokeys earlier this summer and decided to get an actual wedge fitting with our local titleist rep. All I can is wow!

what an eye opening and amazing experience. Granted my original self-fitted choices were spot on with what the fitter confirmed. Just a change in lofts to dial in my distances and the switch to the k grind in my lob wedge.

read plenty of reviews on the k in lob and how it’s one dimensional but that was not the case for me. Could easily play that on tighter lies and open up when needed.

safe to say I will never buy off the rack again

SM8 satin 52/8 F (54/10 bent) 1deg flat

SM9 black 58/8 M 1deg flat

both new this season (in play since June) replaced Mizuno S18 wedges

54 used mostly for full/ish shots and occasionally for longer pitches or uphill lies around the green. Solid wedge, repeatable distance but launches in a slightly higher window in my opinion than the SM9. This works for me as my PW/UW are ping ie1 and it fits into a descending pattern nicely. Can knock it down when needed and spins as expected. Will occasionally shoot up on shots from rough and fly higher/shorter than anticipated.

SM 9 58M is a cheat code from bunkers. I find it launches lower on full shots than SM8 and even resists high launch on high face strikes from lies sitting up in the rough. I have played it this year in dry/firm and wet/soft conditions the M grind just works for me. 2 hop/stop shots bring wows from guys i play with, but I tell them its the club that makes that shot possible. Easy to open face and get the high shot when necessary/M grind is versatile. Great around the greens from tight lies to heavy rough.

Do you find the 58 M to play with a bit more bounce than the previous version?

Can’t say for sure as this is the first M grind i have played. Demo’d a friends 60 deg M SM9 as well just to verify that grind was ok for me from different lies and didn’t find any problems.

I currently use 54.12 and 58.08 SM* wedges and am looking to a get a 50 SM9 but can't decide what bounce to get.  I would be using it for the occasional bump and run around the green but mostly for full shots.  I only hit them inside on the simulator and really couldn't tell the difference.  Any opinions on which would suit my needs the best?  Does it make sense to use the same bounce as the 54?

My i525 PW is 44* so today I picked up a 50*F and a 56*S so 6* difference in my wedges which is perfect for what I needed

Update:

54* and 58*. Swapped out for lighter shafts. Great feel with really good spin numbers. I thought for a while that the SM8s felt better but I've since leaned more to the SM9s now.
