Safe to assume the plaintiff is holding some kind of proof of these accusations that Jack is asserting that he can provide golf course design services and endorsements outside of his agreement with Nicklaus Companies.

This is not a very good look for Jack if any of the above is true. Of course this is just one side of the story, but I would assume that there is at least some factual basis behind it. I've always liked Jack so I hope that he can get out of this with his dignity intact, but you definitely have to wonder.

Some people will believe this, but not that Shipnuck and his publishers would take the same measures to protect themselves.

Hahah or John Fogerty being sued for "plagiarizing" his own song.

Or how about the Caesar Salad?

History gives credit to Caesar Cardini, circa 1924.  However, the real story is that the salad was created by Dick Caesar.  There are 5 witnesses on record that when Dick threw together the first Caesar salad for a customer at the Regal Diner in 1921, the customer exclaimed, "this salad is fit for Caesar himself."

All I know is the finest Caesar Salad you'll ever eat is prepared from scratch table-side at Golden Steer here in Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada.

I'm sure it's fantastic. But is there anything more awkward than having something complex prepared right at your table? I always feel frozen like I have to watch every step though I'm never really that interested.

Or, and it's a big OR, the Company wanted to do it and Jack turned the Saudis down.....

The Saudis were offering close to what they paid for the company.. just a guess.

This is what I am wondering as well.  That is some serious cash the Saudis are throwing around, and given that GBI is now essentially "arm's length"(for lack of a better term) from the namesake for all intents and purposes, are they less concerned about the PR blowback that Norman has gotten, and focused on the $$?

Much easier for the company to rationalize signing on with them than JN himself.

like the italian joints that cook your penne alla vodka table-side.

“thanks now my clothes smell like burnt vodka.  why couldn’t you order a salad or some salmon like the last half dozen dates i’ve been on?  we’re going dutch”

I was speaking to my mechanic recently, and the conversation got around to unethical behavior.  Someone else popped a name that advertises a ton in our area.  Apparently my mechanic was out to eat with this guy, and three different people came up to this guy and chewed him out for screwing them on their repair.  The guy just sat there, and was actually proud.  He's been sanctioned several times by the version of DoT here, and yet he keeps going.  Somehow his reputation has not gotten to every corner, so he keeps getting new clients.  Which is good for him because he has very few repeat clients.

We tend to only drive our one vehicle for long trips, so when I brought it into for an oil change once, our mechanic almost refused to do it because it was well before anything was due.  He's earned business and referrals with things like that.

Was introduced to a great mechanic in Sydney when I drove a merc 230e 4wd, best 4wd or anything that I've driven in my 55 years driving. It was a 86 model that was used to transfer 2 old English sheepdogs to the country estate by the gardner before I got it, only 50000 klms and I felt like King Ferrouk driving it lol. Driving a merc sprinter now in NZ but nearly impossible to find a good mechanic to work on Mercedes here, I use the sprinter to go away and camp at 2-4 day tournaments and it's super comfortable for me...

Finally something we all can agree on, the Golden Steer is awesome!

Piero's is the best restaurant in Vegas, though. We go pretty often and as recently as last weekend!

I took the gf there for her birthday, we were impressed. Love the old school Vegas restaurants.

What’s your thoughts on Herbs and Rye?

Still haven't been yet! Every time we've tried to get a reservation; nothing's been available.

Fun fact - that USED to be a spot called the, ahem, "Slanted Clam." And before that? A mob hangout "The Venetian." No connection to the hotel. (You might know this depending on how long you've been in town)

Venetian was on Sahara? Never ate there tho, never been to the SC, although sounds like it would be fun😂

Edit, I looked up the Venetian, and it looks like the same building as Herbs and Rye

That’s what I was alluding to.

*If there’s documentation of these interactions and this company “saving” Jack, that would look bad for JN.

This is a pretty spectacular allegation,

“The Company essentially saved Mr. Nicklaus from himself by extricating him from a controversial project that could have not only tarnished his legacy and reputation“

And I would think they have some substantial proof to back the claim.

Why in the world would you think that?

Over the last several years there's been a concerted effort by a lot of people to cast unreasonable doubt on all our biggest institutions like the press, the courts, etc.

Skepticism is justified, sure, but we're now in a place where people simply reject information that doesn't fit their biases. It's easier to say "fake news" than to slow down and have a rational thought.

Sometimes attorneys lie or stretch the truth in their filings but there are huge risks to doing so. Censure by the court or an easily winnable counter-suit are some of those. With hundreds of millions of dollars on the line I would be surprised if these attorneys don't have their evidence lined up.

Why in the world would you be surprised if lawyers say stuff without evidence?

Come in, guys.

If there were meat, they would have put it in.  When somebody quotes a bunch documents, but does not quote the “smoking gun,” there is no smoking gun.
