Wow, I'm such a jinx machine. Maybe I have a bright future in broadcasting. Talk about Jodi's great ballstriking and then she proceeds to put a fairway wood into the bunker on the 18th. Oy.

That's how I fell feel too.  Anytime I praise someone, they then proceed to crash and burn.  I think my US Open picks will only be players I don't want to win so that the ones I do want to win don't get my jinx.  😂

Golf in the American desert?  How many more years can that last?  Even if the course can pay the water bills, watering a playground for adults is a massive waste of a precious, and highly limited, resource.

And, does anyone know if Lillia Vu and ethnic Viet, or Chinese?  Most Viet women i've ever met are much smaller than Lillia.

Lilia Vu = Vietnamese origin (I think)… inconclusive based on Google-search, and per her Wikipedia page (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilia_Vu)

but some clues based on parents’ names (Details per Lilia’s bio here: https://uclabruins.com/sports/womens-golf/roster/lilia-vu/6953)…

and based on the number of Vietnamese-language articles that appear in the Google search (vs few or none in Chinese?)

eg here: https://golfnet.vn/golfer-goc-viet-lilia-vu-co-danh-hieu-chuyen-nghiep-dau-tay/

Heck of a comeback by Ayaka. She may seem like a short hitter, but she's averaging 250 for the season. Not long by any means, but long enough to get into the mix.

Hard to pick a winner here. Eun Hee obviously has the most experience, but once again it's match play, and when a bad hole is immediately forgotten, anything is possible. 'Certainly didn't expect to see Lilia and Andrea in the finals. Both were solid match play players in college, so they may be up to the challenge.

I can't decide if J-Hyphen got hosed by that ruling on the last hole or not.  I mean I guess I understand why the nearest point of complete relief was determined where it was but the camera angle made it look pretty questionable as to whether the corner of the stands still was in the line of play to the flag.

Very likely that it wouldn't have mattered given Furue's clutch putt, but still.  Jodi will be kicking herself for a while for letting the match get that far.

As for today, I'm pulling for a Lee-Vu final with an Andrea Lee win.  Which means that it will be EHJ vs Furue and an EHJ win, book it.

Andrea's excellent run came to an end. Eun Hee is on a serious tear.

Lilia has to pull a rabbit out of a hat to advance to the finals. Ayaka playing solid.

It looks like today's consolation match might actually be meaningful. Andrea and Lilia both could use the 3rd place money and points.

I'm thinking this event should guarantee everyone plays 4 matches. Maybe have the players that don't advance have a random draw based on group stage record. Half of the matches held on Saturday,  the other half on Sunday.  Or possibly have fans vote on matches they want to see. In the event of a lackluster finals match, at least something else is going on.

Any Korea/Japan rivalry chatter for this match or is that part of the golf world more concerned about getting ready for the work day. Definitely a bigger news story in Japan if Ayaka gets her first victory.

Everyone has a 50/50 chance of jinxing a player. Assuming Eun Hee is still out of the US Open, it would be nice to see her win and get in. But I'll pick Ayaka.

Maybe instead of group play they do double elimination. If a player loses twice, then no point in continuing on.

Kind of silly Ji is not the field despite being a past champion of the event.

And here I thought we might go through an entire thread without the virtue signalling.

I missed the early coverage and just started tuning in.  Seems like more South Korean support behind the ropes?

For the consulation match, did they play up the UCLA vs Stanford battle? Maybe a slight bias for Kay Cockerill since she is a Bruin alum😂
