Lack of reports of ball moving when tour pros address ball in rough

No, if you played a lot on courses with bermuda rough that is thick enough that balls tend to be suspended you would know it virtually impossible for there to be 450+ rounds played over 4 days and nobody’s ball moved.  
 

I believe it’s like some other posters have said..you end up with a worse lie when it sinks to the bottom so who cares.

I agree this would seem to happen more than reported.  Watching pros ground their club in rough couple of times before they swing can't imagine their isn't a material amount of balls that sink/move in rough that doesn't get reported.

 

Many people on this thread are saying settling into the rough is a worse lie, so it doesn't matter.  So, if I am playing you in the club championship and you see my ball fall deeper into the rough as I am grounding the club behind it.... you don't (A) call me on it right then (B) call me on it after the round before scorecards are signed or (C) spread info within the league that I am a cheat?    

 

I bet almost everyone on here saying it don't matter would do one of these 3 things.  Why?  Because it's a rule, and rules aren't gray.  Grounding a club and the ball moves, it gets called and it's a penalty.  If the ball is in fluffy rough, then don't

ground the club behind the ball - test the rough a few inches away from your ball - if this is followed, then it's almost impossible to cause a ball to settle into the rough.
