Titleist 913 Fd, 15° Versus TSi3 Fairway, 15°

I looked and didn't see any direct comparisons.  But this is unsurprising since the release gap between the two is so wide.

Anyway, I have 15° and 17° 913 Fd's mounted on Diamana flowerband Whiteboards.  They've treated me well, but...  2015 was my last active year until this year, and I'm looking to get back into the game and wondering if I might benefit from upgrading with a couple newer TSi3 heads and just swapping my shafts over.

Does anyone have experience with these two sets of FW woods?  Would this be a minimal change I should wait on until I get my swing back, or would it be a profound difference I should embrace as soon as possible?

Note:  I don't expect to get my game back to where I left it (~8 index) was until sometime next year.

P.S.  Almost forgot...  My driver is a 910 D3 and I intend on swapping that out with a TSi D4 now.  It's also on a flowerband whiteboard, and I want to keep the shaft; can I swap SureFit ferules / adapters without destroying the shaft?

Thanks in advance!

Across the board here (fairways AND driver), the biggest change with Titleist woods from the 900 series to the TS/TSi has been lowering the center of gravity. This combined with faster faces results in hotter, lower spinning shots, and is the big reason why we're seeing more and more 4w/7w setups on tour over the traditional 3w/5w, something that I would definitely suggest looking at. The TSi2 16.5* and 21* would be a great replacement for the 15*/17* 913's, and if you prefer more open face angles then they can be lofted down slightly. Otherwise you could loft up the 15*/18* combo if you prefer more square or slightly closed angles.

your 913 fw wood shafts won't fit in the newer fairway heads.  You'd have to buy the new adapter and have it installed to use those diamana shafts.

If you are just getting back into the game, it'd be best to just go play and worry about equipment later once you've found your swing again.

I used to play the 910 FD 3 wood and honestly, there isn't any amazing difference.  I think the shafts (high end ones) have improved greatly but the fairway woods are only slightly better overall.  maybe a couple mph faster ball speed, little more forgiving, less spin, etc.  Nothing major, where you'll look like a pro after switching.

I got my assumptions based on this from the Titleist site:

Actually, now that I look at it again, my driver and the FW woods should work, no?

You're probably not wrong, but I am concerned that my driver face -having seen a LOT of golf, might be a bit dead.  Between that and the new tech, I suspect the driver upgrade might be a big improvement.  But you're definitely right, no equipment will make a crappy swing work well.  😉

Now that I look at it again, it looks like I misread it.  That's good to know, thanks!

The changeover happened after the 910 series, so 910 fairway shafts won't fit any fairways after (which you experienced) but the 913 will, as will everything after.

Yeah, my driver is the 910, my FW's are the 913.  According to the Titleist chart I pasted from their site, both are interchangeable.  The chart also backs up your observation; the 910 FW's are the only ones that don't upgrade from 910 to the TSi lineup.
