Yes she did . . . It was only a year or two ago . . . and I blurted out my coffee laughing when it happened.   Of course, it was set up by a little chat about how Shanshan said she really hadn't practiced during Covid and that she  loved the food at a particular tournament venue, and then how she thought the Chairman of the Communist Party was rather handsome . . . with Judy responding with the above statement (I am paraphrasing of course, but that was the sentiment).   

And you're probably bang on about Judy having that previous interaction with Shanshan. 🙂

Grace should be a full timer on the LPGA next year, she's currently top 10 on the Epson money list, if she doesn't advance that way, she will probably advance through Q school.

Seeing only two players under par really got me wondering if there's ever been a tournament round on either the PGA or LPGA in which zero players broke 70 or, even more extreme, zero players broke par. Anyone know?

It's pretty rare. In recent years at the USWO, even though the winning score was higher than this year, there were a handful of scores in the 60s on the final day. Scoring was much higher during the first three rounds.

Ahhh, sports fans.  Let me introduce you to the 1974 U.S. Open championship from Winged Foot.  More colloquially known as the Massacre at Winged Foot.  In response (though never confirmed by Sandy Tatum and the USGA), to Johnny Miller's Final Round 63 at Oakmont in 1973, when he came from behind to win the US Open, the USGA decided to firm up the course to make sure Par was indeed a good score. 

Well, the weather got hot and dry and the greens were like billiard tables and that is how we got the winning score of +7 from Hale Irwin!

I think it was fueled by Mina, to be honest. If it had been a shoot-out amongst the big career stars, there wouldn't have been that discussion. But the battling journeyman pro who had under 2k left in her bank account less than 2 years ago - earning a cool mill - that is actually a story. It's a story that interests me.

 

I'd like to see more money in women's golf too, but no matter how much money there is, there will always be battlers. In fact, if the earnings structure is pyramidal, more money will mean more battlers.
