Launch Monitors - HOW MUCH? Your joking!

I'm increasingly getting more and more notifications, from all quarters showing me how to swing, chip, pitch, putt and basically hit the ball.

 

A large proportion of these "lessons" are telling me how useful a "launch Monitor" is and to improve my skills I should use one, but, and here's the big but, whilst I can see their advantages, they ain't cheap!

 

Who the hell can afford these pieces of kit, that basically spend the lion's share of their time not being used?

 

One has to balance the books somehow with the cost of essentials like clubs, (drivers coming in at $500+) and balls which have gone through the roof.  Add that to club memberships and all the other necessities, where do you find the money for a launch monitor?

 

The one that Tiger uses is coming in at just under $4000.  Great I go out and buy one tomorrow.  I don't think!  That's a lot of money when I have a family to feed and the general cost of living escalating to beyond means.

 

Where do they think the average golfer in the street gets his money to be able to afford this tech?

Why exactly do you need a launch monitor? Let alone an expensive one?

You can go get fitted for a few hundred dollars, no? 

 

If you just want something to tell you how far you're hitting it, there are options for ~$100-$500.

 

But if you're just looking to get better at golf, all you really need is a place to hit balls/practice short game/putting and maybe get lessons.

Love my Tiger Woods launch monitor. It cost $4k. I hit 60 balls a day on average. About 1 medium bucket of range balls. 

 

These are my balls, they are nicer than range balls. So figure that bucket is about $11 each (depending on your range and quality). $11 X 365 = $4015. Have your wife or kids use it 2x a week and there you go.

 

I'm not wealthy, or even wealthy adjacent. I just push what money I have into places that matter to me. Still cheaper than owning a horse, or motorcycle. Heck one of my buddies rides E-bikes and dropped $12k last week for a used one.
