Irons for a digger?

So I normally have a pretty decent strike on my irons more of a steeper angle of attach 7-4 degrees down, I’m using the t300s and like the players irons. So here’s my question would the thinner sole on the t100s or or the zx7 be better than the bigger t300s? Second I’ve heard the zx7s have some Design that’ll help swings like mine is that true?. Wider soles are effective in keeping the club from digging into the turf with a sweep swing, especially with the longer irons. Their lower COG also helps give a higher launch with a sweep swing. Those factors are pretty moot if you have a steep swing with low AOA.

So your saying the game improment irons don’t make much of a difference because the way I deliver the club?

Compare the Cleveland Launcher XL with medium sole lengths to the Launcher XL Halo with very extended sole lengths. The former favors a steep swing, the latter a sweep swing. The T300 is similar to the Launcher XL, so I'd say it would be fine with a steep swing path. Whether or not you'd get better results with the T100s or ZX7 you could only confirm by trying them.

Srixon uses V-Soles, which are known to benefit diggers but could give sweepers like myself issues.  ZX7's are a pretty small player's iron.  Coming from the T300's, might take a look at the ZX5's or a combo set of the two.

Another option is where the iron has a pre-worn leading edge.  Examples of this are Miura TC-201.  An older example are the Mizuno JPX-825 Pro that I used to game years ago.

 

You're coming in steep. If the leading edge is sharp - very little bounce, and the edge sits pretty flush with the turf - the edge will catch the turf and dig a nice pelt of grass.

 

Irons with the pre-worn leading edge will glide a bit more along the ground through impact. I can dig a bit, and my iron game improved significantly once I started gaming irons like this.
