Your best driver ever.

When I was on, nothing has been better than my old ERC Fusion 9.5 with stiff prolite. Wish I hadn't sold it, would be a great winter golf driver (lots and lots of roll.) My R7 TP was pretty solid too. Never liked the ball flight or distance with my 905R (V2 made for too much spin.) Currently shopping for the next best thing.

Another nod for the F Speed. I still have a soft spot for the Greatest Biggest Bertha I bought second hand with a the original yellow and purple Proforce shaft, it was my first decent driver and the shaft just worked for me. Its still in my second bag that is in New Zealand- for when I travel back there.

My best driver ever would have to be my Mizuno T-Zoid Forged with a UST Pro Force 65 shaft. Not only did I bomb it with a perfect trajectory, but found tons of fairways with it. A close second would be the original T-Zoid which I had a Grafalloy Pro Lite in. Unfortunately (or fortunately) technology keeps moving forward, and it was replace by a 983K.

Persimmon: I had a no-name persimmon driver in high school; blonde stain, Gamma Fibre insert, 45" DG X-100, E-0. I could do absolutely anything I wanted with that club and at the time there wasn't anything I hit further (early 90s). I still have it, although she ain't as pretty as she once was. The Powells I've had made are fabulous, but I can still remember consistently flying a Professional 285 uphill to a short par 4 at a course I played pretty regularly.

Steel: Ping Zing 2. I caved in 3 of them. At the time it was the loudest thing out there, but the sole was contoured so well on this thing it was an absolute weapon from the deck. Picked one up out of a close out bag about 10 years ago and still have it sitting around for giggles.

Titanium: There are two; the first Ruger made Great Big Bertha (RCH 36 shaft, 45", 7.5 deg....my college driver) and the VFT Tour Series (8.5, RCH Pro Series M70 (the best OEM shaft I've ever picked up, it works so well I was afraid to re-shaft it, although I have a spare I'm experimenting with these days), 30g Balance Certified counterweight) I have these days for Titanium. I picked up a Sonartec Ti-01 yesterday for a song and am curious if it will dethrone the VFT. In all honestly I've tested or owned just about any head of significance the past 10 years and have yet to find a combination that betters my numbers with the VFT...

Other: Kasco VS Tour. I had one of these in the bag for a while and it was an absolute monster. Makes me wish more things were made out of Super Hyten...

That's exactly why I haven't demoed it yet. I'm afraid I'd like it too much. Same reason I stopped going to strip clubs after I got married... :)

My favorite driver was a 3 wood. I had a TM tour 13* spoon w/that gold shaft. You know the one that I hit 10yards further than my driver. I had a wear mark that went half way up the shaft and it finally gave out after 13 seasons. :)

HA, me too.

It wasn't a driver. I couldn't hit one then.

But my TM System 2 14* Raylor was within yards of my buddys with drivers!

Plus you could swing as hard as you wanted and it never complained!

Glad I still have it. Along with my TM tour preferred irons and all the other metal woods!!!

Now, it's my HS9 F/9* with a 65-s VS Proto!!!!

I played an old 13 degree Tour Spoon for 13 years. Mine was a stock Flex Twist shafted one that I got hold of in the US in late '91 and played right through until early '05 when I chopped it in for a V Steel and then a T-60 Nike.

Fantastic club. Went an absolute mile and I could work it both ways. It worked equally well with a balata ball, a Titleist Professional and, latterly with a Pro V1 and the Nike Tour Accuracy balls I used when I retired it.

Still got it, and I occasionally still bag it when I need a strong 3 wood for a certain course I sometimes play.

My current FT-5 Tour has served me very well, the best graphite-shafted driver I've ever owned, but I've never striped so many balls down the middle of the fairway as I have with my old Steelhead Plus. Once heads started getting larger and steel shafts became obsolete (in drivers anyway) I had to step up with other offerings.

As for what happened to it? Well, take a look :)

I started carrying the club in my bag as a 2nd driver, for really long fairway shots and very low punch shots. One day I was horsing around at the range and I tried to hit one of those Tiger stingers. I guess I hit the mat too hard. As to how it ended up being bent like that, I have NO idea! LOL

There is a 6* steelhead plus in the proshop at my course, second hand ofcourse. I want to hit it, but I know it'll only produce ankle biters!

My current driver is a 12* G5 ordered through Wrx for several reasons. First, it was digitally lofted to ensure it was 12*. Secondly, I requested it to be square. It is. Finally, I wanted it to be 44.5" at D2 which Wrx was also able to accomodate. It's a great driver. Long, straight, and accurate. So far it's been the best driver I've owned.

Without a doubt, the best driver I ever played was the 975 - JVS. Unfortunately, I traded it in for a Ping G2 and my game off of the tee has never been the same.

Same here for me. Played my 7.5 J-VS with Speeder 757 X for 3 years. When the face cracked, Titleist actually replaced it with a 983E. Close, but no cigar, tried the 905S after that, better yet, but still not the J-VS.

I've been in a whirlwind for the last 4 years trying to find something I'll game for multiple years, to no avail....

My current driver - 905R with the stock Speeder shaft is probably the best I've ever hit. My favorite is a tossup between the 975J and the 905R. The 975J changed my game completely - it was the first driver I could hit consistently for distance and accuracy. The 905R is just a beautiful club - I've tried a couple of Cleveland and TM drivers but keep coming back to Titleists. They just work for me.
