And with poa greens you always have the possibility of more missed putts so this should go to the wire.

The effect of these poa greens on elite putters - witness Lydia in this round and also Leona in the first 2 rounds, their strokes look so un-typical of them and their results suffer.

Yeah, I'm disappointed in her performance over the past two seasons (last and this year).  She is talented enough, but for some reason playing without any confidence.   Perhaps Q-Series will reawaken her commitment and priorities?

Yeah, they must be succumbing to the "nerves" of rarely ever being in this position at this level.   Hopefully, there will be much learned today.

 

The finder's fee depends on who negotiates it - Lydia, her sister, or Tina.  🙂

Lydia seems to stand forever over those short putts compared to the longer ones.  I get that they are poa greens but maybe she is overthinking it.

Poa is regarded as an infestation from where I'm from in Oz. If our local greenkeepers don't deal with it they lose their job.

 

As a pro you do what you need to to make a living but if you have the means and you're an elite putter just skip every poa greens course, it reduces your efficiency and mucks around with your stroke and mind.

Poa is the natural or dominant grass in many more northerly latitudes in North America . . .Pacifc Coast is where it seems predominant.  It must be native to Australia too?    In my experience, they're fine (Poannu greens) . . . just have to have the mindset for it, just like playing on the more wiry Bermuda.

We'll just have to have a friendly disagreement on this point.

 

It is native to Australia but now bar the most basic muni/public courses here, it just isn't tolerated because it makes bounce and role so inconsistent and so reduces the impact of skill.

 

Your club either has to put in so many $ to present it playable or just rip it up, relay your greens with say bent and then fight off poa outbreaks. I dislike playing into and putting on poa greens, it becomes a lottery and that's not what I want with elite pro golf. I have played a lot of poa greens and you just set your mindset to missing some well struck and well read putts.

 

I chuckle to myself when I see all the course manipulation with forward tees, preferred lies etc whilst playing bumpy, inconsistent bounce poa greens WTF? This course presents as such.

 

It's a shame to me because I Admire Donald Ross courses and think that they are so appropriate in length and design to be great tests for LPGA players but so many seem to have poa greens. 

 

I guess it is what it is and clubs are making their courses available for events and so you have to play what is presented (or choose not to).

You called it.   They are showing it on CBS Sports or CNBC.  I don't think we Canadians will be able to access that ☹️

I'm in Oz watching via Foxtel/Kayo and it has had 3 network coverage changes so far for I guess North American viewers (but continues un-interrupted on my stream).

 

Still a long way to go to get the LPGA product right but hey, gives some room for improvement I guess.
