South jersey golf course help

Heading to south jersey this week and was looking for a round. Can anyone recommend any courses around AC or south as I’m staying around wildwood area. Willing to travel an 45mins-1 hr

 

I found courses but they all seem to be close in price $98-130 and just wanted to make sure I’m getting a solid course for that price. Currently have open tee times for shore gate, Scotland and Avalon but open to recommendation

Check out the extensive travel thread that Arg has going in this section for great reviews with pictures of some of these courses but in South Jersey - near AC you have Ballamor, Sea View Resort courses, Twisted Dune and Shore Gate (a little further South)

Shore gate is solid, difficult course. I would recommend Ballamor, AC Country Club, Twisted Dune, and Shore Gate, in that order. Twisted Dune probably the best value, though Ballamor is well worth the price. ACC is going to break the bank but a really well-manicured course with tremendous views

 

I'd skip Scotland and Sea View courses personally. Haven't played Avalon so can't comment on that.

Avalon is a decent course, okay conditions, a bit slow on the greens. It's short, even from the tips but pretty tight, lots of trees. I wouldn't go out of your way to play it but if you're staying in Cape May, it's a good option. I prefer it to Cape May National.

Play Balamor, Seaview Bay, Shore Gate in that order. Do not waste time or money at Avalon.

 

Bay course kind of sucks but should be in good shape since the LPGA was there a week ago, and weather has been good since. I'd actually probably put Bay first based on the time frame.

 

Cape May National would be a better "muni" option than Avalon.

I agree with this except if you are staying in Wildwood Id play shore gate over seaview. It’s not worth the extra 30 min drive. Ballmore is the best option for sure.

stay away from avalon! 6 hr round!  can do way better at Cape May or Shoregate

I saw ACCC went private this year.  A bummer for sure as it was prob the best public track in the state.

Oh wow I didn't know that. That is a bummer, loved playing it once a year on an AC trip during the summer. Guess we will have to go Ballamor, Twisted Dune, and Shore Gate for the August trip.

Yes I usually did it once a year myself.  Would be nice if they open back to the public in the shoulder season. 

 

Also, don't sleep on McCullough's.  Nice track with a good layout.  I'll most likely do a Shore Gate, Ballamor, Sea View Bay, McCullough's trip later this fall.
