The group behind them was waiting in the fairway. Given that he wasn’t making the weekend he did what he did so that the group behind them wouldn’t have to wait longer than they already did

Was he playing by himself? The group would’ve waited for his playing partners regardless and that was their final hole of the day since they started on #10. Not exactly moving mountains for them by walking off the course and getting DQ’d.

It may have not been the walk off to LIV Golf news that everyone is desperate for it to be, after reading a comment made by playing partner Will McGirt.

Kokrak didn't realize his ball went OB until he got down to the green, he would have had to gone back and played again from the sand.  It was the last hole and instead of holding up the course, he went to the scorer's tent and let them know. He already missed the cut, who cares.

Man, I just looked at the shot-by-shot for Rory on 12. That’s brutal. It almost looks like every bad break from my rounds rolled into one hole. 
 

Hook one into the junk? Check. 
Fly the green with another pull and into the bunker? Check. 
Pretty much go bunker-to-bunker across the green? Check. 
Horribly duff your pitch shot? Check. 
Card a natural snowman? Check.

Re Kokrak - everyone always complaining about slow play. This guy is a hero. And he did it on the biggest stage. If he goes to liv now, I say he rode off into the sunset.

Nobody wants to wait in the fairway watching someone ahead on the green hustle around for his double.

Re the Kokrak thing. 

Even if his motivation was to not hold up play because he was gonna MC anyway - you finish the round and turn in a card. 

Using that same rationale one could argue that all the Friday guys who are never gonna make the cut should just walk off whenever they want. What's the point, right?
