Anyone carry a 5 wood as their longest club other than driver?

Anyone not carry a 3 wood? Like 5 wood is your longest non driver club?

Me!  Longest club (after driver) is 4W.  I named it "Barry White"....cuz it's often "my everything" club!  I hit it 185-190 carry; use it on par 5s; some approaches; chip it from scrubby lies off the green; and "super putts" from 45-65 yards off the green.  Love love love it!  🙂

Dropped the 4 wood years ago, and just the 5 wood. I am playing the Callaway B 21, 5,7, and 9 wood. They come from the factory too short, so I am extending them and changing the grip. I got the 7 wood today and have already extended it and gripped it. The 9 wood comes in Monday, so extend, grip, and rip it! The B 21 is the best fairway wood I have ever hit, so easy to launch, and accurate.

I play a longer (43”) OG SIM 5 wood @ 18* instead of a traditional 3 wood. It has a 60 gram Hzrdous Smoke Yellow and it just works better than anything else I’ve tried in the last 2+ years.  I found that it’s so much better off the tee from a launch perspective and I can choke up a little bit for more control and less distance. I may try a 16.5 (TSi2 or Rogue ST) but it’s hard to see it being a massive improvement.

I carried driver then 5w for years before I discovered the 4w. Now I play driver, 4w, 21 hybrid. The 4w seems to give me the best of both worlds of the 3w and 5w.

Currently a 16o 2hybrid is my longest club in the bag.

Had 2 atrocious rounds recently:  lost 9 and 8 balls respectively, nearly all with the driver. It will never make a return..

I still haven't hit it off the tee, but my 5 wood @16.5 has been awesome off the deck.

That has been my only issue with taking out the 3 wood, the tee box. I haven’t used my 5 off the tee either (just seems too much loft) so if not the driver it’s the 3hyb (19*), but doesn’t happen often.

I just haven't played a hole where a non driver wood makes sense yet. I would think that as well as it plays off the deck that a low tee would be no different. Just haven't tried it yet. I will tomorrow, I have the perfect hole.

Currently carrying a Callaway Steelhead XR Heavenwood as my first club after driver.  It is slightly longer than the same 5 wood (maybe by 1/4") and 20 degrees of loft, so probably a 6 wood (maybe 5.5 wood).  At altitude I can get 235, maybe 240 off the tee, which suits me well on the courses I play.  I could probably use a 4 wood but have not found one I like yet.

Used to carry a 3 and 5 wood at 17.5 degrees and then the next club was 22 degree 4 iron. I’ve since dropped the 3 wood and cranked the 5 wood down to 16.5 and added a hybrid at 20 degrees to gap better. My course has short par 5’s with doglegs so a good tee shot will usually leave 210-240 in and the 5 wood can cover that when stepped on. Took out all the second guessing on which wood to hit on a long approach and the hybrid is great for a few shorter par 4’s

Chiming in as another member of the "No 3W" club. Gapping works out just fine and I don't find that I'm in many situations where I wish I had something longer than 5W.

for me  Driver 5 wood, 7 and 9 woods  There is a hole on my home course where I kind of miss the 3 wood off the tee but for just 1 hole I don't find it's worth having

Ping G400 max
Ping G410 5 wood
Ping G410 7 & 9 woods

I play DR, 5W combo. I found the 5W distance was close enough to my previous 4W, while also being the longest club I can hit off the deck well. Just a better fit for me and haven't looked back.
