This club dropping/throwing really needs to stop.

Before even more amateurs who think they should hit every shot perfect with no practice, start copying it and someone gets hurt.

 

Pros look ridiculous doing that and then hitting the middle of a fairway or within 8 ft of a pin. Just stop.

I blame forgiving clubs.  You think you missed it 15 yards.  And poof. It’s pin high anyway. I say go to the root. Take away the forgiveness then the club tosses will look justified !!

I’m mostly being facetious….

 

But I do find myself more and more with longer clubs hitting thin or slightly toe shots that feel bad , and they still get there.  It’s irritating to a good player to not feel good contact. The swing isn’t the issue. It’s the contact.   The difference in feel for a pro level swing between good and slight miss isn’t anything.  You can only tell by contact. 
 

Theegala isn’t dropping clubs on awful swings. He’s dropping clubs on bad contact.  Then watching it still be good.  Hideki does it too. I get it. The standard is “on the button”. Less than that is a bad swing.  Todays club makes that still ok.  Back in the day Theegalas ball on the par 3 is wet.  No question.

Sometimes you can't "tell"-your subconscious takes over last second and saves a terrible swing before your conscious mind recognizes it.

 

I hit a shot probably once a round that feels like I've blocked it 60 yards offline and it ends up being good.

That depends though, because at these guy's level there is a big difference between the poor shot and "not the shot I wanted". Look at Hideki as an extreme example, the dude will one-hand finish or even borderline drop the club on shots that end up middle/middle or within 10ft. Some of these guys are tuned in so tightly to want they want to happen that the moment they feel something different they think "bad" when in reality there are good misses that happen all the time. So yes, they can tell, but not always what the outcome itself will be.

Club throwing on a public course should be grounds for immediate expulsion.  It's just unacceptable behavior.  No warning, just expulsion with an invitation to come back when they grow up.  The possible exception would be if the golfer is playing alone.  

 

Club dropping is just narcissistic and self-indulgent.

 

I would not want to play with a golfer who is in the habit of doing either.

We literally only have one/two guys here that are showing hostility towards this club throwing. Most seem to have made a joke out of it! So your post doesn’t carry much, if any weight. But does give you a format to push your agenda. So there is that  🙄
