What golf shorts do you like?

Recommended Posts

  I like Ben Hogan shorts.

They're inexpensive, fit me well and they last.

No gym shorts here, lol!

I have a couple pair of Patagonia Quandary shorts (10 inch) that are terrific for hot weather and that's all I wear now for golf when I don't wear pants.  They aren't strictly speaking golf shorts, but they look great (IMO), are breathable, dry fast (really don't show "wet" at all even in 90+ and humid).  I wear them hiking, playing golf, whatever.

For some, the only drawback I can think of is they are pretty thin (durable but thin) so I'm cautious about the style of divot tool I carry!

I wore literally the same pair of white cotton $14.00 Wrangler cargo shorts for years (I have a pic in them from a clinic with Monte in 2015) until COVID took 20+ pounds off me and I found out the shorts were discontinued - glad I found the Patagonia - much more comfortable when it is really hot and now I'm pretty slender again I feel more "stylish", haha.

Just curious.  What in the heck are people carrying with them on the golf course that requires so many pockets?   I  mean you need a ball, maybe 1 tee, a ball marker and then a place to stick your glove (if you even wear one.  Maybe I'm missing out on something?

Scorecard holder goes in the back left pocket.

Once you start using a scorecard holder, golfing any other way is amateur hour.

I like backs because I don't care to throw anything of size up front. It makes me feel sloppy. Usually a tee or two in my front left, front right is two dimes, back right is a wallet, most of the time it's out though.. it's not full Costanza, but in the summer in South Carolina I feel like it's distasteful to hand someone wet money, back left is a can of dip.. it's in there from car, to practice until I hit the first tee shot.

Not to stereotype but South Carolina and a can of dip def check all the boxes. 🤣 ha just messing buddy.

My favorite shorts are Puma jackpot. Fit me perfectly.

Haha, no worries

I might think I'm a little refined, but there's some red deep down. It's not so bad when I see Kisner or some of the other local fellas throw one in on TV.

Okay I’m all about the Rhône Resort 8in short but the FJ Lightweight Shorts are pretty dang nice as well. They fit above the knee which I like and they’re incredibly light. I definitely need shorts like this being in Texas heat and humidity down south near the water.

Bought some Redvanly shorts this year. They are pull on, elastic waist shorts but absolutely don't look like it. Really lightweight and cool in the hot weather I play in. They are a little wrinkly out of the dryer, but the wrinkles go away as you wear them. I've been a Peter Millar Salem shorts guy for years but these have made it into the rotation this year, mainly because they're lighter and cooler. Same length as the Salem's but a little pricier at $105.  Redvanly.com

Second for Redvanly.  Just got turned on to these a couple weeks ago and they have instantly become my favorite shorts, especially for hot weather.

Before that was a Nike, Adidas, Greyson short guy.

I feel like a lot of people aren't just wearing the shorts for golf. I've got a couple pairs of Lulu commission shorts and wear them everywhere. I had a pair of shorts a while back with only 1 back pocket and hated it. Always instinctively tried to put my wallet in the back right only to be disappointed

I thought no back left pocket was weird at first too but immediately forgot about it. Glove goes back right anyway. The comfort and fit on these are incredible. Try them and return if not for you. I just ordered a few more

I didn't play in them today, bonobos for my noon round,  but my Rhone package came in today. The 7 inch commuter, I think.  Two back pockets though, so far they're comfy, I'm walking around the house in them. Fit kinda true to size.

No!!!!!!! Commuters are their “best sellers” as is their pants line but the Resort (yes, sadly the no left back pocket pair) are more tech, better breathability, tons more stretch and more comfy.  Can’t say if they are more durable.  When I bought both, I never wore the commuters again so no clue how they hold up.  The Resort shorts are DURABLE.

Ahh. They weren't bad, wore them today on the course. I mean as breathable as I need a pair of shorts to me, two back pockets sold me though. Honestly I don't care for a lot of the modern day fabrics, I'm pretty picky with them. Certain rlx lines of Ralph Lauren, and Polo golf is all I wear as shirts on the course. The stretch lisle I really like. I won't wear straight cotton shorts or pants though on the course, basically anytime of year. They just look sloppy, and I'm not playing golf with taco butt or wrinkles.

I just put on the new Rhoback shorts. Comfy, great length, 1 back zippered pocket. No belt loops with an elastic waist. Not to be worn golfing with a tucked shirt but they look pretty nice from the waist down.

That elastic waistband was a deal killer for me. Not sure what Rhoback was thinking. I like my polo tucked when playing golf, otherwise they look like night shirts on me as I'm a short guy. Those Rhoback shorts look more like swim trunks.

I don’t think they were marketing them as golf shorts specifically. More workout/every day shorts that you *could* wear on course.

AC are perforated to provide more breath ability per the marketing. I have both and prefer the regular boardwalkers.  Fit pretty true to size. I always need to get them hemmed an inch or 2 but I’m short.

I agree they run long and hem them as well. They are 10-1/4" I think(I prefer 8-9" depending on the cut) I prefer AC since they have both back pockets and are more traditional looking. I hate the single back pocket. The bamboo shorts are great too. Heavier weight, but I wear them up to 90 no problem.

Which is fine, but how do you not also come out with a more traditional golf short version as well? I was majorly disappointed by the shorts release.

Do they really need to be dried flat or can you throw them in the dryer on delicate?

Surprised to see so few Peter Millar fans...Iove them. Walk in SC heat, no prob.  Don't show sweat as much, wicking, even slightly water resistant in that quick shower....

Great color ways, great quality.  Little thicker than some of the really light shorts but honestly never been an issue for me.

I am all in on PM everything but shorts and pants. I own maybe 40 pieces of polos, hoodies, jackets in PM. But their shorts are too thick, pants are too hot and just can’t get on board with this.

Agree.  But for some reason they work for me.  Although I wear the pants mostly in cooler weather and for work!  The shorts seem fine in blazing summers of 90+ and 75% humidity.   Guess they hide the sweat!
