Lmao. As if you couldn't just record golf on TV and watch it whenever you wanted before this? 🤣🤣 this dude really stretching pretty hard to make this seem special.

There's a ton of us that "cut the cord" and don't have Golf Channel, let alone a way to record live TV for future playback.

Youtube counts a “view” as 30 seconds of watching.,

So, that 406k includes all the times the same person watched a few minutes, stopped watching, then watched again. They count the same device over and over everytime.,

So, the only way to really determine how many people watched is to look at the livestream numbers during the event.

It was 50-65k.

Then, you can try to say that some people came back to watch. But that will also include all the times someone watched for 35 seconds.

The livestream numbers tell all.

I was curious if the poor Google Trends numbers would foretell a lack of interest.  And they did.

If these numbers are true.....I"m surprised based on the free advertising here and else where,,,,,I never thought that team golf was that popular in the first place and all the fake hype made me think that I was in the "Twilight Zone" .....LOL!

It was like one day I woke up and team golf with silly names had supplanted 72 hole stroke play....

Yeah no kidding.. I’m not biased but I watched off and on yesterday and it was never above 55K at any point. I think those numbers will get even worse because I am starting to lose interest and I bet there’s a lot of people with a similar mindset to me about it.

watched for a couple hours yesterday.  liv's website has much better video quality then youtube fyi.  im still enjoying the coverage.  its not perfect and can easily be fixed as the broadcasts progress.  pumpkin ridge looks awesome.  i love that the greens are rolling fast and the rough is actually penalizing.  the course is much more exciting then the usual courses we see from the pga tour at the lesser events.

Ah statistics! Let see, it is the 4th of July weekend in the US, you've won at least one golf major of the last 50, so unless someone is paying you a boat load of money, you are spending it with your family, but not in southern Illinois. Do you really think if there was no LIV golf, all those major winners would be at the John Deere Classic, NOT.

Lets look at the major winners scores, DJ is -4 (1 back), Bruce K is -2, Pat R and Bryson D are E, Phil M and Sergio G are +3. Lets look some other ranked golfers to see who is challenging the major winners, Pat P is -3 (way to go!), Abraham (Abe) Ancer is +1, Ian P and Kevin N are +3, Lee W is +4 and Graeme McD is +7.

My point is that LIV's production/coverage is on par or just slightly below whatever else is out there. There's just not a superior product already out there.  So to me, watching LIV is really no different than watching the PGAT on my CBS, NBC, etc.  In fact, LIV's coverage is like scrolling through Instagram posts which I happen to do almost every day.  Perhaps that's why it's not as offensive to me.

I actually, I don't really mind the leaderboard if they could add next to the player's score the number of holes that player has left in which the scoring average is less than par or something to that effect so that the viewers can tell how many scoring chances each player has left in the round.

I really hope this things dies soon. The only guys who are playing for something are the ones who know they need to make the money fast cos they will be dumped as soon as someone higher up the rankings joins. Everyone else has already been paid. There is nothing on the line, no legacy, no ranking points. Its awful exhibition drivel.

It's a new venture.  Its hard to throw around terms like "legacy" or prestige, etc when they are literally running their 2nd event.  The PGA Tour didn't always have legacy or prestige and quite frankly with such a long schedule now with events nearly every single week I would argue that waters down the legacy.  You are left with stinker tournaments like Fortinet, Sanderson Farms, adjacent stableford, John Deere, 3M, etc.

Part of the appeal of LIV Golf is that it's not every week.  I probably wouldn't enjoy the LIV format every week or more than 15 weeks out of a year but IMO its a nice change of pace from the standard, ho hum PGA Tour broadcast.

The only think I’m not liking is the constant leaderboard on the left side. Love the pace.

The over the top dramatic dialogue by the announcers is hilarious!  They are trying so hard to make these events relevant.

Whoever the on course female announcer is, she is really bad!  Just watched DJ tee off on a hole and she set it up with "He's been trying to hit more draws..."  The dude's been playing a cut his entire professional career!

To add some context, I thought FOX’s coverage of the U.S. Open was a breath of fresh air.  And CBS’s coverage and production of the Masters is dated…it’s garbage.

I see Norman kept at least one aspect of the FOX U.S. Open coverage...the microphone in the cups so we can hear that annoying rattle when putts are holed out.

Pumpkin Ridge must be a tough course. 80% of an elite field couldn’t break par in the first round.

Could be the setup. I’ve played it twice and played pretty well the first time (74) which was pretty solid for a three cap at the time and never seeing the course before. I’ve always had a soft spot for that place but honestly that is kind of tarnished now.

Tough to completely cut that cord if you're a sports fan. So much that's not on OTA channels. Can still get Sling or something else fairly cheap for GC. Or ESPN+ for only $7/mo.

And did they seriously actually put mics in the bottom of the cups? How freaking gimmicky can these guys get (not sure, but they certainly are pushing the boundaries).

Something left over from the days of Fox coverage.

Pumpkin Ridge is beautiful and those greens are wow fast.

I don't have a problem with the camera coverage. I think it's pretty good honestly

The mic cups needs to go. The scoreboard needs to be reworked.

I like the go / no go holes graphics.

The announcers need to save the oooooo and aaahhhh for the real good shots...these are pro's so knocking it close isn't all that remarkable unless they've pulled off a shot that has a low percentage of getting close.

The team format needs some tweaks.

Be interesting to see what changes are made in year 2

DJ hitting great iron shots / wedges has been out front.    I Kind of like the shotgun start on thursday and friday.   Saturday they will again repair and the 36 hole leaders will tee off on 1.   But I would not want to watch a masters shotgun start.   Interesting to watch to see if bryson, brooks and wolff can find their way back to health/top level of play.   Brooks making a late move to close back up some.    Interesting to see who might get hot for the open.

Beginning to think there is a specific clause in the standard LIV contract that requires player, when cued, to proclaim how incredibly excited they are to be there.

On the bright side however, you get to see every single shot Pat Perez makes - something that was always sorely lacking on PGAT broadcasts.

I’m not following your compressed from 9 hours to 5.  Unless you have ESPN+, the PGAT is only being broadcast for 3 hours a day.  Now if your strictly talking about streaming then I see your point.

I stream it through ESPN plus.  with the early stream, late stream and the broadcast, it amounts around 9 hours of coverage.

One of the more frustrating things regarding the PGA happened today… I have a sizable-payout bet on Poston, he’s on fire then the broadcast ends while he is on hole 13.  The only way to follow him is on the featured holes option on ESPN+ And that was only holes 14 & 16.

The PGA Tour needs to figure out how to close the coverage gaps.  If the leader isn’t in a featured group… get a camera man on a cart and chase him down.  The other time they consistently miss it is when the leaders tee off in that 2:30-3pm window on the weekend and they basically ignore their first 2-3 holes so that Azinger can catch us up at 3:01.  However in that window if you want to watch the Bo Van Pelt and Bill Haas group you can see every shot of theirs while they battle for 56th place.  Yaaay.

I know this: DJ is still a massive star. He lacks a bit in the personality department but when he is on he’s incredibly fun to watch. The PGAT losing DJ is massive. He put on an absolute stripe show today on a beautiful and challenging course…and…well I don’t know what happened in the Quad Cities because I’m not sure I care.
