Best cavity back wedge you've ever played

Before a month ago it was an Eye2, but the Cleveland CBX Zipcores are phenomenal. Most consistent wedge I’ve ever played in launch, spin, and carry.

Not a long list, but gotta vote for Ping Glide 2.0 Stealth.

Those were great ones too.

I'm still holding on to my original Cleveland Smart Soles (circa ~2013?), and stockpiled a few sets because i liked them so much

... Are those CBX Zipcore wedges even better?

100% agree with this. Between shot making ability, look, feel and just overall package it is a great option. Also very underrated, but the Ping Wedge grip is so good. With different markers on it for hand placement on choking down is brilliant.

Original Cleveland cbx or the latest version cbx zipcore. Definitely the most forgiveness and easiest to hit wedges I've ever used. I do play the cbx full face in my 58° spot which has been another game changer for me. Cbx zipcore in 52°/56° are more for full swings but the 56° can be used everywhere without issue around the greens no matter the lie. I like to open the face up and use the flop shot often hence the 58°.

I'm loving the Callaway Mack Daddy CB wedges I just got. Tried out the 54 and 58 on the course last weekend. were easier to hit than my Taylormade milled grind wedges and like the full face grooves. Actually holed my first chip in with them haha. Only downside for me is the grip is standard size and I like to use midsize grips. But the longer grip was nice to choke up on for short chips.

They are the best I’ve ever hit, and I’ve played or tried them all. The standard deviation on launch, spin, and carry distance is the tightest I’ve ever seen.

I've never played the cleveland wedges.  Is there a noticeable difference in the cbx2 and the cbx2 zipcores?

I played the first model and now I’m gaming the Zipcores. My friend has the CBX2 which I have tried out. The only difference among the 3 versions is the Zipcores have a Spinner shaft.

I have the zipcores and they are extremely close in size/shape/design as the originals. I posted some side by sides in a different thread about cavity back wedges. I was more accurate with the originals but also had much more time with them vs the new ones that are going on a couple months now.

I am a good wedge player and decent ball striker and I absolutely l love the Cleveland CBX wedges.

I have played every brand of wedge and I always came back to Cleveland, a few years ago I swapped my 52* blade wedge for the CBX.

I am missing nothing from a playability perspective and longer shots are easier.

I’ve not much time with them yet, but the Cally full face MD Cb’s are very nice, so far. Very forgiving through the turf and very distance consistent from partial to full swings. Ymmv

which are better…Glide 2.0’s or the new CBX?

CBX Zips and it’s not even close. I was a HUGE stealth 2.0 guy for years, but these CBX Zips are like cheating. Played this evening and here’s a summary:

#2 had 65 yds in to a back tier flag. Hit a little skipper with my 56*. Hits about 6ft short of the flag, takes a hop then stops dead for a gimme.

#3 hit my approach into the hazard, drop at 65yds (my fav distance) hit the same shot to 6ft knock it in for par

#4 pulled my approach left of the green into a nasty downhill lie in the rough. Opened up the 60* and it just came out perfect trickles down to 3ft

#5 pulled my tee shot into to the rough and another juicy lie downhill side hill lie. Opened the 60* cane out perfect released out and went in dead weight

#7 pulled my approach again into the left green side rough. Not as bad a lie, took my 56* and chipped it out to 6”

#9 left in back a little further than I wanted at 87 yds to a back flag that’s semi blind. Hit my 3/4 56* and I thought it was good. When I got up the slope, I see my ballmark about 6 ft short the hole on line with the flag but my ball is pin high about 9ft left of the hole. So don’t know if it hit the pin and ricocheted off the pin or just spun like crazy.

I can’t say enough good things about them. The sole grinds are perfect and hands down best wedges out of the rough I’ve ever hit, yet they are just as effective from fwy and tight lies and like cheating from the bunkers. I’m not trying to boast, but my wedge game has always been good so Stealth 2.0, Vokeys, PXG Forged, TM MG, Cleveland RTX, I’ve played them all. But they don’t hold a candle to these.
