I had to say it.  

 

This guy brings nothing to the channel. 

 

He has a couple favorite golfers he gets all glassy-eyed for (Rory), which is annoying in itself, and tends to just be a mumbling parrot the rest of the time.

 

Time to update the staff a little, Golf Channel.

reminds me of the last episode of Mary Tyler Moore where everyone was canned except Ted Baxter (who became Judge Smails in Caddyshack, for those who don't know about the Mary Tyler Moore show).

Little remembered fact:

 

Ted Knight also played Henry Rush in the sitcom "Too Close for Comfort." It was a short lived riff on the "Three's Company" model.

 

Set in SF rather than LA. Instead of a creepy landlord living below, they had a histrionic dad (Knight) living above. No John Ritter character either - but lots of men coming and going.

 

I'm not sure if we were supposed to assume that the girls were celibate or tramps. Obviously, in those days, there wasn't much space between the two.

 

But my, how the high-jinks ensued...

 

I'd watch that over talking heads on the golf channel any day of the week.

Yes I remember that show. It went from the network into syndication and was retitled 'The Ted Knight Show'. It was Knight's last role.

 

Morning Drive was the last talking head golf channel show I watched on a regular basis...

Didn't Jaime Diaz play an extra in an episode of "Murder...she wrote"?  Cabot Cove had a higher murder rate per capita than Haiti.  I think Diaz played "concerned onlooker" which has dovetailed nicely into his GC role.

Getting rid of all those clowns and getting real commentators would be a great start!

As someone outside of the US that doesn't watch the Golf Channel, I really miss his articles on GolfDigest.com. His best talent is in writing.
