But the ET/ DPWT is not supposed to go for money.  You’re right, complete and utter nonsensical decision.

It seems to me that all the top European players are now on the PGA tour and that the DP tour has become the equivalent of the Korn Ferry tour.

two weeks before the Open, two weeks after the open ... so the top players on the dp tour played in the open and want to take a week off before playing in the scottish open (or so it seems) ... maybe move it to a few weeks after the Open? ... don't know ... tight schedule in the golf world in the middle of the summer ...

Did you have the same complaint last year and other years when they used the same course for the Irish Open? Was it a mistake to play it at the beloved Royal Portrush when -18 won there around 10 years ago? Over time looks like many low scores have won this event regardless of where it was played.

Horrendous course. Go to Ballybunion next time.

Only time the Irish Open was there -14 won in 2000. Unless the weather is super windy difficult w/o over the top rough and shrinking fairway widths touring pros are going to go low. If there is no crazy weather at St Andrews in 2 weeks the Open winning score might resemble a typical PGA tour event at the Hope.

It’s probably just wrong timing in view of the Scottish Open being jointly-sanctioned this year ( PGA/ ET ) and possibly being a parkland course. It would mean playing 3 events consecutively for Scottish Open and Open qualifiers.

There’s a possibility too of the ET selecting venues with accommodation on the course due to Covid.  But the ET prefers taking the money from resort-course owners rather than using proper tests. It’s rare that they use links’ courses.

You’re right about the state of the ET that’s why I’ve suggested elsewhere that the ET might regret a battle with LIV’s members.

Rory allegedly had a part in Irish Open being played at a number of great courses a stretch of years a decade or so ago. Royal County Down as the  icing of the cake, must be the most beautiful course in the world, at least as a TV experience. Sadly, that initiative seems to have died.

Irish Rory can't play in this event this year he's too busy preparing for the JP McManus Pro Am on Monday.

No appearance money there then.

LOL! ......why would you hitch your horses to a startup.......the DP world tour is more entertaining without Team 54 exhibition players....IMO

As a businessman I believe it’s better to “ jaw-jaw “ than “ war-war “ when possible. Many events on the EG/ DPWT are not worth watching as the elite are on the PGA Tour until there’s serious money about over here. Much hypocrisy about I think amongst the players and elsewhere.

I suspect it’s a trifle more complicated than what you suggest. Rory’s U.K. tax status and his parents living in NI for two. But you’re on the right track: If wasn’t for the Ryder Cup, I doubt if he’d bother with the ET. I see the Scottish Open is well-supported by members of the PGA Tour but again money has selected the venue - a pseudo links.

The Scottish Open was played for many years at Loch Lomond. An inland parkland style layout. In case you and others haven't noticed (in spite of you being in the UK) not all golf courses in the UK are links layouts. Many great inland/heathland/parkland style courses.

Same as when it was played at Gleneagles Kings Course. Another inland/heathland/parkland golf course. From 1987-2010 only two years was the event played on a true links course (Carnoustie). Hmm. Must have been the PGA Tours fault as well. 🤣

The course for Scottish Open this year has been used in the past and was not influenced by the PGA Tour. It's well supported this year because it's a co-sanctioned event between the PGA and DP/ET tours for the first time. Go figure. Oh and BTW don't Rory's parents live in Florida there days as does Rory?

Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler are playing Tralee Golf Club today. Yesterday Spieth played Lahinch with Scheffler and Sam Burns.

So they're in the same country, playing golf, while the national open is on.

Says it all, given the JP McManus Pro Am it was a historic chance to get these players over for the Irish Open on a links. Alas.

I disagree .........the quality of the DPWT players rival the players on the team 54 Series IMO. I think that they're well worth watching because you see the young players that's coming up....but that's just me.
