I knew it was a made-for release as soon as I saw it. Not surprised to hear they play soft to flex even though the marketing is overusing the 'black profile' themes.

Same reason Fujikura makes a Ventus without Velocore that completely dilutes and ruines the Ventus name and line - money. When Titleist, Taylormade, Callaway, etc come knocking for a new shaft line for their woods with a guaranteed minimum order - you dont say no to that.

yeah thats just not cool. Im sure that shaft will fit some golfers but who wants a fake shaft?

its not. Some people think they need to be in an Xstiff and now they can be 🙂 . Realy does it matter if the fitting results provide this to be someone's best option.

the question is how do i demo the real thing? I assume they will have a fitting cart with the watered down one in it, so now what?

What specs on MCA’s site support this being a full flex softer than the other models? (keep in mind that flex is almost always based on butt cpm which is not indicative of the stiffness profile of the entire shaft)

Additionally, here is a quote from the MCA rep from earlier in the thread:

 

“1K Black is a new TENSEI profile we'll roll out a few months down the line. Heavier/stouter than 1K Pro White with a slightly different material composition than the Pro model. You'll see additional advanced materials like boron used in the 1K Pro White model.”

A TSR fairway popped up on ebay and it has this shaft in it. Looks like it's confirmed to be the Titleist shaft of choice instead of the RDX black in the TSR3 models.

There's also a TSr3 driver with the '22 AV Blue 65TX that's currently bidding for over 1500, lol.

It isn't a watered down version of the shaft, same shaft as you would buy separately. I got to hit the TSr3 and TSr4 with the Tensei Black 1K in the 6X. TSr4 10º is probably on the wishlist. It is a lot more forgiving than the TSi4.

It’s not a made for but the results I saw with this were great. Fitted into this with tsr3 driver head. Was ten to fifteen yards over my current driver.

I'm skeptical but if you look at the MCA page for the Tensei Black it's clearly stated that the Tensei Black only the 1K weave and x link and not the other stuff like the MR70 or boron.  Similar to how MCA only has the MR70 in the Kai'li line.  We all know that it was as a stock option on the Stealth line.  They are also cheaper as well compared to the aftermarket shafts they produce.

Who cares if the end result in terms of  longitudinal and/or torsional stiffness is negligible? Also, the production cost difference at scale is likely not as high as you think vs some of their other flagship aftermarket parts.

Was at a SSC x Titleist outing with a Titleist fitter and an MCA guy as well. They said it wasn't watered down version from both Titleist and MCA. I don't really know what to believe, they felt great and definitely in my scope to try out as I get fitted properly at TPI.

How does it compare to it's counterparts in the 1K family?  Feel, dispersion, etc.

I have only played with the most recent version of the Orange and I didn't get along with the counter balance feel. 

 

I thought it felt great, was still able to launch it high enough with a 10º TSr4 head.
