Best paragraph typed on GolfWRX in months. There is nothing wrong with simple cast irons. Make a cross between iblade and s55 with 8620 or 431 steel and pings player iron is set.

Truth be told, I’d really like a set of i210 cast from BeCu. Wouldn’t that be cool!!!!!! I’ll ask Santa this winter!

No idea.  Just called again and waiting to hear back.

Since one has a Recoil and the other a ZZ it doesn't seem like it would be a shaft issue and I told them I didn't care what grips they sent so it can't be that either.

And since everybody else seems to be getting theirs it can't be a head shortage so I don't know what the hell is going on.

Heard back from the shop and now they say shipping on Wednesday.  Of course they also told me shipping on 16 June a month ago so.......

I'm a picker and these get reviewed so well but unless they offer a Hovland version, I'd be shooting wormburners all day

You can get a custom PING WRX custom grinds on their irons too. I think they can add the Bounce, Back, Heel and Lead Edge grinds on their irons.

Can Ping WRX straighten the leading edge of the Eye 2 grind??

The is a wrx lead edge grind option, but it’s more to round the edge rather than square it up. However, you could request they make the lead edge straighter.

So true. There is actually a new niche created by that craze. If someone made a solid feeling (doesnt even need to be forged tbh), good looking (doesnt need to be T100-small tbh), consistent (=no hot spots, enough spin to be playable by a better player) iron without all the distance, that would almost be a unicorn nowadays. And truth be told, thats pretty much the niche where the i-series belongs. Good enough for some of the best players in the world and a BIG part of the ladies tours, but playable enough for amateurs with an "okay" golf swing.

I think that is actually where the i210 popularity is coming from: There is almost no competition in that space

I think new level golf makes some clubs that fit the bill like the original pf-2 and the newer 623cb.

It's here, finally, im soo excited. Looks like the iblade and s55 had a baby. Any time ping release something it's for a good reason. My guess is it will be 5 yards shorter and 500 rpm more spin than i525 and 5 yard longer and 500 rpm spin less than i59 . From the photo of the cavity and how shallow and flat it looks it probably has alumicore similar to i59 but, with an elastomer insert. Making me think the alumicore is not exactly the same as i59.Slightly shorter blade length, a couple of more grooves.

I think my i200s fit that bill? I have tried a lot of irons since I got the i200s but the hollow bodies freak me out, while blades remain a bit intimidating. i200 is just solid, while giving me a bit of a bigger face and more forgiving sole through the turf.

If the i210’s we’re slightly narrower in the sole of the mid-short irons , they wouldn’t have ever left my bag.

Exactly my thoughts. Thats why I believe/hope Ping did not mess it up with i230. Because the i-series sits right where it should

If they messed it up they wouldn’t already be in the bags of their staff players. Hopefully we will learn more about them tomorrow if they do a press release.

spot on.

There just aren't that much Non hollow smaller but not too small but forgiving irons out there.

ZX7 are the only ones I can't think of and even those aren't really super forgiving.

The I series irons were unreal before they went the hollow route - the I525 feel brutal.

JPX 921F don’t look that much bigger than Zx7.

Funny enough I tried both of them and both of them just dont go high enough for me. That is my usual issue with irons that are forgiving enough for me. They either lack spin or launch. I wanted to love the 921F but the mid irons are way low for me... I have decent enough speed but irons just dont go very high for me.

replacement for i210?

Should be. Players making the switch were i210 before and i210 -> i230 makes kinda sense. Also looks to be a similar profile from the couple photos that we have

The Honma players irons are the most underrated small players irons out there. Very forgiving for forged designs with minimal offset, small toplines, and small blade length. Even their pocket cavity designs are smaller and better looking than most NA OEM's rival forged models.
