Wisconsin weather early August

Heading up to Wisconsin (Kohler and Erin Hills) in early August and trying to figure out potential weather. Would you buy and bring rain gear or is that overkill? I’d have to buy the gear since we don’t play in rain in Arizona. I know I can check weather week prior but I’d like to plan now if possible. TIA.

Rain is possible though not likely. 20% +/- chance.  The heat will be different than your norm in AZ.  It can be humid.  Of the two courses, Kohler will border lake Michigan and get modest temperature relief from a body of 60* water.  At EH there is one tree, it has some rigorous hikes green to tee and being 20-30 miles inland there will be no lake effect relief from heat/humidity if it is a hot day.

If you don't have a future use for it, I don't see the point. Unfortunately, looking at the forecast a week out isn't going to tell you a whole lot. I guarantee you that some of the days will have "scattered storms" in the forecast for early August. However, there's no way to really the know the timing, coverage, duration, or intensity that far out. In addition this time of year, most of our rain comes with thunderstorms. So, if it is raining, it is usually coming with lightning and you shouldn't be out on the course anyway.

Maybe a light 3/4 pullover or something but other than that no.

Generally this time of year in the midwest when it rains, that rain comes in the form of storms which means you won't be on the course.  Between that and it being hot/humid, I wouldn't bother much with rain gear in August.

Agree. Unfortunately it's pretty uncommon for us to be able to play through rain in the summer as there is usually severe weather with it. On the plus side, unlike the spring/fall, you're not going to be absolutely freezing if it rains in the summer. Worst case, you get wet. Shoulder season at Kohler without rain gear would be foolish.

 

Also, I'll offer my opinion that cheap rain gear is pretty much a waste of time. You'll both still get wet and be really hot.
