Grant got her surname from a Scottish grandfather pro golfer who immigrated to Sweden.

Stark got hers because she comes from a family of nudists.

Today i learnt that there's a fourth Swedish "next big talent" pursuing an LPGA/LET pro career  (i.e. Beatrice Wallin) often linked together albeit currently less- well-known(?) ... in addition to Grant, Stark and Ingrid Lindblad.

(But only Grant and Stark are at the Evian this week?).

"Collectively, the quartet has won 18 events all over the globe in the last two years, ranging from Swedish women’s professional events to college events here in the states. All four qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open in December and Grant even played in the final group on Saturday, although Stark had the best result of the foursome with a T-13 finish.

Here is a breakdown of each player and how each, individually, answered the same four questions about the group as a whole."

Linn Grant (21 years old)
Viken, Sweden
Ranking: 2
College: Arizona State University (Sophomore)

Who hits the ball the farthest? I would say we’re all pretty similar. If we were on the range, I’d say Ingrid. Tournament, it’s either Ingrid or me.
Who is the best putter? Ingrid.
Who is the most serious on the golf course? Ingrid. Maybe me.
Who is the funniest? Beatrice.

Ingrid Lindblad (20)
Halmstad, Sweden
Ranking: 4
College: Louisiana State University (Sophomore)

Farthest? I didn’t hit it far today, but I’m one of the longest ones. Either me, Linn or Maja. I can’t tell.
Putter? Beatrice.
Serious? Me.
Funniest? Maja.

Maja Stark (21)
Skivarp, Sweden
Ranking: 6
College: Oklahoma State University (Sophomore)

Farthest? Linn. But every day is different.
Putter? Beatrice. She’s nasty sometimes.
Serious? Ingrid.
Funniest? Everyone is funny in such different ways ,but Bea can just say things so quick. Probably her.

Beatrice Wallin (21)
Gothenberg, Sweden
Ranking: 10
College: Florida State University (Junior)

Farthest? Maja or Linn.
Putter? I feel like we’re all pretty equal. Maybe Linn.
Serious? Linn or Ingrid.
Funniest? I want to say myself.

Nelly is just a machine. Has she every not been in the top since her run started a season or two ago? Even after her issues this year it's like she never left.

Fly to France after all that and STILL place in the top 5? Okay, why not.

I'm convinced she would easily be top 25 in PGA events just by sheer fairways/GIR. She doesnt even need the length.

This is intriguing!

I've said sometime ago that Nelly should play a regular PGA tour event; she'd have a better than 50% chance to be the first woman to make it to the weekend!

Ayaka Furue's extended LPGA battle with Hye Jin Choi offers us front row seats to view "The best of Japan" vs. "The best of Korea" comparison.

Currently, Hye Jin is leading "Rookie of the Year" race by a score of 787 to 271.

The plot thickens!

Ayaka Furue led Hye Jin Choi, -8 to even; Yuna Nishimura led Min Ji Park, -5 to -4.

I always thought Tiger's Hero World Challenge would make for a great mixed event.  Last year it was only 20 players, most of the top ranked men.  So get the top 20 ladies too.  Do a 54-hole regular event, then do a fun 18-hole best ball team event format.  It's basically a fun invitational event, and the course isn't super long.

They really need to create more noise near the 8th teebox. Maybe set off some random cherry bombs and/or air horns. A few car alarms might be a nice touch. Sheesh.

Well because it's on the side of a mountain, I consider this a literal goat track lol.  Actually, the rough along the fairways and around the greens is pretty lush and fairly penal, so you can't hit it all over the yard and get away with it.  Furue finally showing her pedigree and a pretty strong leaderboard but still way too early to give anyone an edge, its really attrition over the course of 4 rounds, you basically have to average a 66 each round to have a chance on the back 9 Sunday.

Brooke is looking more and more comfortable with left hand low and maybe this event rewards the transition to left hand low, as it where Minjee broke through lol but we'll see how it holds up over 4 rounds.  Honestly if she can be successful this week she can probably thank the USGA.  I always read in articles about the driver change, cause I must be missing something, outside the final round at the Chevron she's been deadly accurate and just as long.  With the 48 in driver she was at 67% fairways hit and now she's at 77.8%, so she's been hitting fairways at over 80% clip since the change.   IMO by the end of the week hitting fairways and greens will probably be the deciding factor

I love when an on-course announcer says that a 30+ foot putt is "very makeable". Yeah, I guess every putt is makeable, but when it's statistically less than 5 percent, is it very makeable? Lol.

In Gee holds the tournament scoring record at -21. That record could be in jeopardy if the course continues to play soft.

..and Furue and Nelly both got morning tee times. If they both go low, they could be a tough catch.

There doesn't seem to be much difference between AM and PM, really just whether you're getting it done or not.  I guess the ball will travel better for the afternoon but no real difference IMO.

The actual real anomaly of today's round is, 8 of the top 9 started on the 10th tee  and 15 of the top 18 players started today's round on the 10th tee
