I like Rickie but putting is the least of his worries.

Seems like most people always talk about is how his putting is struggling but he’s 144th in driving accuracy and 178th in GIR. His putting absolutely needs to improve but I would argue that his tee to green game is holding him back just as much.

It is, but Rickie's x-factor has generally been putting. His best seasons have him elite in that category and he can struggle elsewhere and still compete. But if the putting goes, he goes. He's like the anti-Sergio, lol. He's also never been able to put it ALL together, his upsides always occurring at different times. The putting is the only thing that has ever been elite for him though, good to see him going back to what worked previously.

Yeah I followed him at the Scottish Open and watched a bit of the 3m last week, his bogeys are just coming from daft misses most of the time. Its almost like he is just slightly off and can't quite put it all together. He does look loads better than he did 12 months ago though... just needs to keep tightening things up over 18 holes. He is also just a few holed putts away from scores in the mid 60's, he seems to miss more inside 10ft these days. Its a bit like JT has been the last couple of years, in that he often has bad putting days and ends up shooting level but could also have been a 66 if a few had dropped. Small margins and when the putts drop Rickie seems to elevate his confidence tee to green.

I do not understand how guys leave Butch Harmon. There are not many players that leave Butch and then get better. He should RUN back to Butch. Not saying Tillery is bad, but it must have put something “new” and technical in his head that is prohibiting some tight ball striking.

I think you hit it spot on with this comment.  Not sure why either.  But maybe they all get tired of hearing "everything looks fine, just keep doing what you are doing".   So instead they have to find something is wrong/off because they aren't winning?

Well now looks what has happened.  Golf is about consistency and while Tiger was able to change his swing those were HUGE risks and not something everyone can do.  

I change things all the time.  Its why I suck!

Haven't the little quotes we've heard from their relationship implied that Butch was trying to push him more mentally and giving him flak for "being more like a Kardashian" because of all the social media/marketing stuff?

It's pretty common that guys who start to struggle with the putter start to struggle with the long game because they feel like if they don't hit it to a foot, they're effed.

As for the putter itself, it's amazing that after playing with that thing for so long there is a spot worn on the face, there is not a scratch or a ding on it looking down from the top.

He's currently 173rd in strokes gained putting this year out of 202 players on the PGA Tour. That's a worry.

There is actually one tiny ding on the side of the top edge.  He pointed it out to me and it's really hard to even see up close.
