Done chasing new drivers

I have been trying to replace driver for 6/7 years, thought I finally had it with TSi3, was hitting it well, but dispersion seemed off. I put my 2015/16 GBB back in, hitting straighter and longer than ever.

Nope, done.

 

I will try to put the RDX black back in the TSi3 , as that is what is in my GBB, but loaned out the one for TSi3.  I went ad DI and had some long drives, but dispersion seems better with RDX, but not doing anything new

Which begs the question: Why? Not that I'm not guilty of it. I liked my TM R11 very much, so really had no reason to go to an M1, other than thinking that with three generational changes it must be better. It wasn't. I had more control issues with it, so after fighting it with it usually winning for three years I moved on for the right reason to my Cleveland. Now I never dread hitting driver, because it's the easiest club in my bag to hit. I'll be keeping it for the foreseeable future.

I want to be there with you but I seem to lose control of my senses when around a new rack of drivers. Kinda like a meat lover going into a rib joint.

I stopped chasing drivers years ago since the sizes and CORs are at their max and been hitting it more solidly since I improved my swing.  I would only get a new (actually used) driver if I came across a steal of a deal.

Gear doesn't make a golfer, whoda thunk it!

 

Any club from the last 10 years is going to give you the same thing i think. Especially true where blades are concerned. If you have say a set of Mizuno blades from 2005 there's literally no point getting the latest ones, they're exactly the same.

I was done chasing last year with the Ping G400 MAX and here I am chasing again. lol 

 

I stopped with everything in my bag but I cannot stop with the driver. What is sad is I know they are just all the same.

I got fitted for driver and I'm glad I spent the money.

I'm small enough that I need the club nobody makes, a high quality driver between juniors and women.

The fitter found a shaft that works well with my swing, then located the lightest head to put on it, the Women's Stealth 12.

 

I just started playing golf last year and tried a lot of used clubs, so I learned a lot about what works for me.

I can afford it so it made sense to have someone with more knowledge locate shaft and club head for me.

 

After the fitting I was able to make adjustments to a 2015 GBB so it now works for me as a backup driver.

41 inch Evenflow shaft.  13.5*-1 loft.  Draw setting on the shaft.  Weight all the way to the rear.

It helped a great deal to swing clubs and talk about what worked and didn't work.

 

I told my fitter I modified my own clubs so we could talk about stuff like swing weight.  I was able to learn a lot from him in a very short amount of time because I already knew about what we were talking about.  In the  year of practice I had developed a very consistent swing that made fitting quite straightforward.  Not only did talking improve my swing by helping with my big issue, tempo, but I could repeat the same swing twice.

Where driver, fairways and SGI irons are concerned  MOI has gone up a lot in the last ten years, and along with it accuracy/forgiveness. During the last four years not so much, as we're approaching the point where MOI can't get any higher.

Just came across a ‘17 m2 12* head paired with a Tour AD Di6 shaft myself. Couldn’t pass it up. Been struggling with my LTDx LS lately. I’ve got a couple TM tipped shafts stashed as well so hope I’m in business for a while.

I am looking this year.  It is between stealth + and TSR/TSi.  Leaning toward Titleist as I am still hitting a 983K.  Couple reshafts and it goes.

I stopped chasing drivers a few years ago when I realized that I wasn't really gaining anything over my two favorite drivers that I already have.  So I just play with my Cally FT Tour or my Cally FT9 Tour.  Long, straight, forgiving....what else do I need?

Oh, I hear that the new Titleist TSR drivers are seeing increased ball speeds....put me down for a couple.

 

But after that no more...I am done.

  LOL very nice to see another GBB player that can’t find anything better.  I’ve played every Callaway driver in the last 5 years.  Nothing can sniff it.  Guess it’s me you and Kevin Kisner stuck in 2016.

I was done chasing each of the last 3 years, lol.  Just had a fitting in Des Moines a week ago! Driver arrived this evening - better be good tomorrow or else!

My new driver just arrived, too.  About an hour ago.  Have pre-set it to 7.5 degrees.  Will be on the range early tomorrow morning...
