I need help finding a new senior shaft for my goat, the G Max 400. Driver distance 190-230 yards, mid height, smooth transition.

Help, looking for a new shaft to feed the goat, G Max 400. Price kinda matters, but a great shaft would be worth it. Currently using a TFC 419 SR shaft, and it is the best I have found so far. I really would appreciate help from those who know, thanks.

Is 190-230 total distance ?  If so 230 is probably about the limit for a soft Reg flex before you’d start to lose dispersion wise. Some softer playing  R flexes might work too. Maybe a Proforce V2 HL 45 or 55 F2 or F3 flex.

I swing around 90mph. Currently playing a g425 Max 10.5 set to small plus with a Tensei Orange AV Raw 55 Reg. It’s beaten everything I’ve thrown at it. It was equal to my buddies Sim 2 Max 10.5.

according to Shot Scope for the year I’m 225 avg (all drives) 235 (p avg) and lately in firmer conditions Im at 245 total.

I've got one too...

Vylyn 47 grams, SR flex.  Needed to reduce the spin with the driver and this is the best the Tourspec fitter could find for me.

I'm hitting it 240 with an L flex 43 gram Maltby MPF Pro Series UL with no dispersion problems. In fact my driving is the most accurate now that it's ever been, although I credit that to the high MOI Cleveland head.

Personally I've never found a shaft that's made that much of a difference for my average swing speed of 85mph. I tested shafts for a hour a while back on GC Quad and  going lighter was where I saw the biggest change of 4 mph ball speed. Dispersion between the shafts seemed to depend more on the swing I put on the ball than anything else. But that's just me. I don't think there  was 5 yards difference between all the shafts I tested.

Sir you can take advice from whomever you want but until YOU are properly fitted you may never find out as what works for others may not for you especially if price matters. Good luck now in your search for the GOAT shaft.

Bingo.  It took a fitting to make the changes I needed to get the distance I was capable of.  And it was a combination of loft and shaft that made the biggest difference.

Not sure if this is the thread to ask for this kind of help, but I'm looking for a new driver for my pops. He needs as much distance help as he can get and hits a little 180-yard fade off the tee generally. He's in his 60s and is a lefty.

He's got loyalty to PING and the only driver I can really find from them that comes in Senior Flex is the G425 "SFT." It looks like it comes with an Alta CB 55 Slate shaft. Does anyone have any thoughts on that shaft offering?

Also open to any options for new drivers in stock for lefties with Senior Flex. Not sure how much he would benefit from the "SFT" as he already hits it pretty straight.

Apologies in advance if this topic doesn't fit in this thread, but sounds like everyone here has some thoughts on Senior Flex focused drivers so I figured I'd shoot my shot.

Thanks!

I would try a SIM MAX ( not the SIM 2 ) with its stock Blue Ventus 5A. They can still be found new on offer.

The "SFT" model drivers are way under valued, especially on this site.

You have to put a wild swing on the ball to not hit it fairly straight.

I am now looking at the Graphite design AD-DI 5 R2, and want to know if this would be a good fit.

I’ve played a Ping G400 since it came out…best driver I’ve ever hit. But the last few years I felt I was struggling with distance, had a Alta 55 S played it at 44.75” and was very accurate +75% fairways hit. I have a 88-91 mph swing speed. I reshafted it this year looking for some extra yardage, ended up with a Graphite Design AD-VR 5 r1 at 45”, I had to adjust the Ping weight to stay at D3. This combination is as accurate and has added about 10-15 yds.
