Boys I folded like a cheap lawn chair. Bought a 7.5 0311x model. I’ll have a write up soon reviewing the head with my Diamana DF, TZ5 60x and Ventus Black TR 5x

Also if anyone wants to just send me a Kaili to toss in the mix i wouldn’t be mad 😁

I'm did side by side with tsr3 yesterday and against epic lax LS last week.  0311x can hold it's own.  You won't be disappointed.

I think I sort of have a mental block due to pre-conceived notions, but the numbers would back this up. Recently hit the TSr and club speed was virtually the same as I was getting with the Gen5 0311, both with Trackman. Based on hitting the Rogue Max LS and TSi3 I'd say it wasn't far off those either. I recently gamed the Max LS and will be getting my 0311 next week so we'll see what it looks like on the course.

Imo... I find the shape of the pxg to be better than the max LS.  It's like a tsr with a sim crown... Nice classic pear shape.

Anyone else feel like with the weight back they hit the ball way too high? I've been a 10.5 guy all my life, or at least the last 20 years. I find myself wanting nothing other than a 2.5 gram weight in the back otherwise I'm hitting moon balls. Not sure I like that from an MOI perspective... Oh, and my miss with Gen 5 is right. So delofting 1.5* via the sleeve isn't really desirable.

Found that as well. I like the modern carbon look, but coming from a ten year break I hate the elongated shaped heads. Just a no go for me. The PXG is by far my favourite current driver at address. With the RDX (or any other black shaft) it’s a good look.

Trying really hard not to order the 3w and 19° hybrid without even hitting a shot with the driver!

I can see that. Would maybe prefer the Max LS matte look, but the PXG one isn't bad. I also found the Max LS to have a hollow/"ting" type of noise when hitting it. Not my thing as I like a more solid sound

I have the Gen4 3w and 5w in addition to the Gen5 driver as I got the full bag promo. Was actually hitting them better than the driver at my fitting. And the driver was pretty good as I mentioned.

Alright boys results are in. Wow. I’m just flat. Out. Impressed. This combo is flat out deadly. Didn’t have much time to hit it at the store but enough to see what I needed to.

I bought a gen 5 driver at the end of the sale for $250 free shipping with the military discount.

Bought it to compare to my Nike Vapor Fly that was turned down to 8.5 degrees with a tensei white shaft

Got the standard gen 5 in 7.5 degrees with the same tensei shaft.  I have been playing it turned down to 6 degrees.

I really like the look of the driver and the sound is improved over the 0211 I tried earlier in the year.  Since I am a bit flippy the lower loft is giving me better ball speed and smash factor.  It seems much more forgiving than my nike as well and I am seeing a 20 yard jump in distance on good hits I believe.

I was a slicer for a long time but over the past year I have turned it into a draw and rarely miss right anymore.  However like others have said in this thread I can't hit a draw with this driver.  My slice is back.

Learning from this thread I'm seeing that turning it down 1.5 degrees flattened the lie angle 1.5 degrees.  I'm going to try to adjust it to the -1 setting which only adjusts the lie angle .5 degrees.

I'm also going to try to play with the weights.  If I buy the weight kit and add more weight to the heel it might help close the face.

Any other suggestions on how to fit this thing to me better?

Update.  I played around with some of the weights.  Got good results.  Swapping the stock heel 7.5 g weight with a 15 gram weight got rid of the fade bias for me.  It also seems to slightly lower the launch ( I guess by moving the CG more forward?)  I'm going to keep playing with it, but very happy that the weight adjustments seem to help

  • 2 weeks later...

Loving my gen5 0311 driver.  Played around with whatever it was set at and my God, this club is pretty amazing.  A little tinkering and you should be able to find what fits you.

Love the head at address.  I like how it's not an overly round top front edge of the crown compared to the new titliest. Very bubble looking heads, or the newest Callaway.

Those 2 drivers particularly appear to have a much more visual appearance of this rolling round top edge that flows into the face.  I don't get that from the g5 pxg x.
