If you're using the argument they have already been paid what about appearance fees that we know that take place on the DP Tour and they are being paid endorsement money to play.

Euro event appearance fees are like Argentine pesos compared to Rahm dough.

How would you describe a golf exhibition? The organizers would select the players they wanted. They would sign them to contracts requiring them to play at a certain course on certain dates in return for a guaranteed remuneration. The organizers would be the sole decision makers in who could play in their exhibition. Sounds like LIV to me.

I would describe a golf exhibition the same way I would describe a basketball or baseball exhibition and point to the Harlem Globetrotters or the Savannah Bananas. Both are out there but they aren't going to the NBA Finals or the World Series. People enjoy the show when it comes to town but it's not like LIV, The Globetrotters or the Savannah Bananas are real competition, it's just entertainment.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

The Crushers GC account posted a reel or something or other on Facebooks where DJ swung BDC's driver on the range.  It must be markedly different than anything anyone else is swinging.  DJ was not a fan of it.

I don't know how nor want to try to link it, but it is out there in the innerwebs if you are interested in finding it.  Only a swing and a response from DJ so it is only about 10 seconds long.

The Dictionary says "(in sports) a game whose outcome does not affect a team's standing, typically one played before the start of a regular season: "an exhibition game"

LIV is certainly not an exhibition.  Every event affects team standings.   So the detractors will have to find some other words to describe LIV.

It's a shame that they have some sort of exclusivity agreement with Adelaide, because a 2nd Aussie event would do a lot for them. It seems like they get way more buzz for that than anything else, even their championships.

Unfortunately this also seems like a bit of a unique event. I'm not sure how many other golf crazed countries there are that used to have a PGA Tour event and now don't. Manufacturing grassroots support in a country that currently isn't huge on golf will be very hard, and the USA is already pretty dead set on following the PGA Tour it seems.

The "exclusivity agreement" is because the Sydney (NSW) and Melbourne(VIC) courses did not want to be affiliated with LIV due to the Australian PGA's marriage to the PGAT....The Grange Golf Club could care less about the Australian PGA, and anybody who knows anything about Australian golf would understand the useless association it is. Rumours are that Perth and Brisbane are interested in a second event...Perth being more suitable if the South Africa tournament begins.

Can I apply to be their portfolio manager? I’d love to get paid for my investment advice by a client that isn’t interested in the return.

I’d expound on my comment, but I had to rewrite that post three times to get it past the moderator.  So you’ll just have to read between the lines.

The whole field is getting appearance fees? Is it an open competition? You are trying to cherry pick....But Dad Johnny did it too

I think this thread is proving what I've said all along.

Rather than say nobody cares about liv... I'll just say there just isn't enough people that do.

The PGAT needs to go about their business and just ignore liv like most of us already do.

The day will come when even the folks with all the money will see it isn't worth keeping it afloat as there is no return in any way shape or form.

Does the fact the SA owns-funds liv make you want to go to their country?  Spend your money there? Make you forget about their human rights record?

Aren't these the main reasons that liv was funded?

Doesn't matter how many billions they spend it's not going to change the perceptions (realities) already at hand.

Add the fact that real sports fans want to see real competition. Yes, real sports fans, not those think exhibition golf is exciting.

Considering we have not heard of any progress on the framework agreement and the fact that Jimmy Dunne, who was brought in to manage the deal, has left the building, it would seem the PGAT has joined the majority of the golf world that ignores LIV.

I just think that there is no way these two parties will be able to come to an agreement that satisfies the PGA Tours needs and also gets past regulatory scrutiny.  I just don’t see it happening, nor do I hope it happens.  But ya never know.  Nobody saw the Framework Agreement coming either.

Watching MacIntyre win his first PGAT event with his dad on the bag and his dad being so emotional he can barely talk - that resonates with me. Guys who got a $500M contract and are playing for another $30M every week - or whatever it is - that does not resonate at all.

I watched it.  But anything happening on the 18th green after he won didn't change the shots I saw him or any of the others play.  I listened to the interview and turned it off and went to go see where and to what course they are going next.  For me the course is as important as the golf being played upon it and was frankly one of the only reasons I tuned in this past weekend was to see Hamilton GCC post renovation.

The storylines are honestly a detractor for me.  The less the announcers are given cause to talk about mom and dad and sister and college coach and personal struggles the better.  I am tuning in to watch golf not Days of Our Lives.

When I watch a professional, on any tour, hit a shot,  I can't tell if it is an exhibition tour or not.

A good shot can be a shot for birdie or can be a shot that puts them in a position to save bogey.  It can be a shot to win or can be a shot that makes no difference in the outcome.

I just like watching golf.  More golf is fine by me.

I liked watching "The Match."  I liked that thing at Seminole.  I like The President's Cup.  I like watching the Golf Digest Tiger Woods How I Play series on youtube.  I'll watch the old Shell WWOG events.

Those old WWOG matches might be the best golf content available still

I wish they had filmed it all and didn't cut holes out or shorten it for TV.  Those guys were playing a different game then.  And it seemed to me it was more of a game too, that you played as much with the clubs as you did your mind and your imagination sussing out what type of shot to hit.  Much more vagary and variety.

I agree to an extent and like to add it seems like the liv tour is for older players who can’t compete on pga tour or players in prime only care about the majors. I have no problem with either tour and I think it strengthens and makes the majors more intriguing. If your a real golf fan more golf is better

I respectfully disagree that more golf is necessarily better. If you don’t like the golf that is presented to you then more is not better. And I don’t like LIV. It has nothing to do with politics. I don’t like the announcers, the music, the shot gun start or the way their tournaments are presented on TV. And for me 90% of their players are in the category of if I never see them hit another golf shot that’s fine with me.

Well, head in the sand by the PGAT board is not going to help...RBC have pulled the pin... their PR response is that they'll wait and see what happens with the "framework deal". If there is no deal, there is no more RBC. That's 3 big sponsors gone.
