Equipment brands you stay away from?

The answer to this question can definitely change dramatically and be fluid for sure.

A couple of years ago there was a similar thread, and I wrote that I thought Titleist was overpriced, overrated, and elitist. But since then I owned a Scotty that I really liked, used their balls for a while, and currently own Titleist Irons and Wedges that I really like.

Still think Pro V’s are extremely overpriced, but if most players on pretty much every Tour in the World use your balls, I guess you can charge whatever astronomical price you want for them.

at one time I would say there were several brands I wouldn't play... now I can honestly say I have played almost every (big OEM) brand and I can't think of one that I wouldn't play at least one club from.

Titleist TSR2  18 deg 5 wood with Ventus TR Blue 7

Definitely very open-minded to testing out the TSR lineup for sure. I had the TSR2 3-Wood for a little bit, but decided to go in the direction of the Cally Apex UW instead.

I’m sure I’ll end up picking up a TSR Driver at some point to test out though for sure…have heard great things!

I used to be a TaylorMade fanboy. I even had a complete TM bag, driver to putter.

I recently got rid of my last TM club, a driver, and I don’t think I’ll go back anytime soon.

I’m not exactly sure why they turn me off. The word “facade” comes to mind.

I've never been a fan of Callaway. Don't like the look and haven't hit them well in fittings.

I have always been drawn to "different". I was the one kid that wanted the Sega Master System while everyone of my friends got the Nintendo NES.  So PXG, Cobra, and Mizuno is about all I look at.   I use to be a big Callaway guy, but haven't tested anything from them since the original Rouge Driver.  TaylorMade catches my attention on niche stuff like I have owned all their recent mini drivers.  But the 2 companies I never even keep up with are Ping and Titleist.

I stay away from certain brands for different parts in the bag. Predominantly PXG and callaway. PXG from everything though.

Driver/woods - pxg, callaway. Shape of them for some reason turns me off. I loved taylormade before I kept cracking heads all the time. Stayed away ever since SIM.

Irons - pxg, callaway, titleist, taylormade, ping. However I’m ordering a set of 230’s.

Wedges - pxg, titleist, callaway and ping.

Putters - pxg,  titleist.  I like the old school Scotty’s but avoided them when they started using aluminum inserts and I think they were overpriced in 2010’s but now all premium putters are similar cost.

Balls - callaway.

I'm pretty open to everything but if something was to said:

Cobra - lack of reliable fitters carrying the brand, even brand demo days and fittings are scarce.

Titleist - often has this effect on club golfers:

My name says it all. When I started playing in 1992, left hand options were limited. Played pings and then figjam came onto the scene with callaway and started my affair with them.

I’ve tried a few cobra woods, vokey wedges, even won some Taylor Made Rocketballz irons from this site. Never got along with anything taylor made. Avoid them like i do pxg. The apex TCB irons are the best irons I’ve ever played.

putters I’ll avoid Scottie’s and Odyssey.

Certain products from certain brands have never been a good fit , i.e.  Mizuno irons and wedges, Callaway irons, TM drivers, Ping woods/irons/wedges, Odyssey putters......I used to have a strong contempt for TM but I don't have the energy

Not really anymore.  I’m digging a mixed bag.  I used to say PXG and Titleist, and now I have PXG irons and a TSR2 driver.  Happy I gave them a chance.

Aldila shafts.

I have *never* had a single one work for me. HM40, One, Voodoo (possibly the worst shaft ever made), NV, NVS, Synergy, VS Proto 'By You', Tour Green, Tour Blue, others I can't remember - I tried them all, and every one of them stunk.

Ping's stock shafts are sometimes made by Aldila and sometimes by UST. I've always had good results from the stock shafts made by UST, never with the ones made by Aldila.

Aldila smells seven days to Sunday (in my hands).

I consider Callaway and Titleist clubs buut never end up choosing them. Ive had success with both companies wedges but eventually move on from them. For whatever reason a Callaway or Titleist staffers WITB is the most boring of them all to me.

Also PXG. I hate all of the visible nuts and bolts on their clubs and the TV adverts drive me nuts.

Final edit lol - Cobra because Bryson plays Cobra.

PXG. Too obnoxious. That said if they really had a product that was better for me than anything else, I would play it. ....But they don't.

PXG for me, the irons backs look hideous (I know,  you can’t see them at address) and I the loath the PXG logo. The price breaks seem disingenuous to me also. Driver for $299 thru the end of the month, but goes back up to $599 after that, Really? I respect the support for our Armed Forces though.

Also never did and never will play or wear anything Nike.

Full disclosure, I play TM woods, Mizuno irons, Titleist driving iron and Scotty putter.
