Driving Iron shaft weight

I picked up a 22 degree driving iron here on BST a few days ago and still waiting on its arrival. Looking to see if it can replace my 4i which has been slightly erratic lately but mostly just want to compare.
It comes with a Ventus HB 7S shaft. I play a Fuji Pro 2.0 7S in my Ping G425 19 degree, Tensei Pro White 70S in 3 wood and Modus 120S in irons and all wedges.

What do y’all think will be the result with this weight for driving iron? Too light? Maybe ok? Just want to see what you all think before I give it a spin early next week.

Going to depend somewhat at what length you want to play the driving iron.   And there isn't really any way to tell until you start hitting it  but typically  with those other wood and iron shaft weights,  a good fit for a hybrid or driving iron shaft weight would typically be somewhere in the 80-100 gm range.

But that's just a very rough generalization.  Each person has to find out for themselves what really will be the best fit or what the consequences (if any) might be for a less then ideal fit.

Yeah that’s what I imagined too. But I have the 70 gram in hybrid and was fit for that so thinking maybe the driving iron isn’t too far off. Interested to see

Usually the shaft for the DI will be 10 grams heavier than the shaft you would put in your hybrid because it's slightly shorter in length but nothing's really set in stone.

See if it’s more consistent and has a slightly higher ball flight than the set 4i

If it does, most of that would come from the head design.  Keep in mind that the Modus 120 has such a different bend profile than everything else, that finding a matching graphite shaft that plays "in proportion" is difficult

Nothing's impossible but while lighter might help with the height (in addition to the different head design) lighter weight and/or longer length rarely translates to more consistency.  It's more commonly the opposite.  Unless maybe the 120 gm is tending toward too heavy for the longer irons.

Totally. I love the modus 120. That being said I hit the other shafts I have well as well but obviously they are not iron heads. Kind of why I wanted to see for myself what would happen here

Honestly I switched to using my iron set shaft in my 3i (use off the) and preferred that over lighter graphite.

If I want to pump something down there 250+ that's why I have a fairway wood. A driving iron should hit the fairway, so going heavier for consistency is worth the loss in yards.

My 2 iron has a TENSEI AV White AM2 S at 39.5" and 90 grams.  My 3-PW have Steelfiber i110cw stiff shafts.  Works fine for me.

The closest bend profile in graphite to the Modus 120 'S', is going to be a tip stiff design in 'R' flex

I Play 66gm Driver and 70gm in my fairways.

Hybrids are 80gm and irons are 95gm.

I'd likely play the same weight as my hybrids.
