There isn't much to go on from what you just posted.  What is his driver swing speed?  What does reds mean?  Red tees at one course can be the tips and reds at another will be ladies.  The distance played is more accurate.

I am GenX.  If you really think I care about what you have to say, I don't.

My 13yo is 60" tall finally.  He's playing adult heads and recoil shafts, though we've never gotten him fitted.  Probably due for a fitting soon.

Drive carry is about 230-235, I think his swing speed is just about 88-90 now.

Does he play from the red tees?

He has only been playing about 6-8 months, not consecutively, so haven’t got swing speed or anything else. I’m not sure where you play but every course I’ve ever played had  red, white, blue, black then gold(some had silver way up in front of the reds). So he’s playing from the woman’s tees. I’d have to guess he’s swinging it about 90+- 1 or 2 mph. I’m not on here trying to brag, I just want to help him the best way I can, if you can help I’d truly appreciate the advice…if not move on, I’m fine with that too.

A few questions to help out:

1. How far do you feel he hits driver on average? (this will help estimate swing speed)

2. Current clubs?

At 60" tall and with appropriate driver swing speed (probably 80mph minimum), this is when juniors tend to transition to adult irons (with senior flex shafts). Some earlier than this and some later.  Here's some decent information that somebody put together (take with grain of salt). https://thejuniorgolfer.com/best-golf-clubs-for-teens-and-juniors-transitioning-to-adult-irons/

Thanks for the help, I’ll definitely read this article. He’s hitting about 215-225 regularly but has hit a few 245+ when he really gets ahold of it.

I wouldn't go crazy with a fitting if he isn't playing tournament level golf.   I would get him a boxed set of Senior Flexed clubs.  Ping Moxie like you mentioned are great Junior Clubs.  At 225 he is around 85ish swing speed.

Not familar with that piece of equipment but something seems amiss.

At 95 swing speed, he should be hitting much further than 225.

Ok, I just scrolled up and read that he's using Ping Moxie driver?   Yah, that's the first thing thats gotta go.

I’m trying to figure out the best option,  not sure if I should buy a complete US kids set, used set and have them cut down or get him fit

I would take him to a local golf shop, PGA super store, Edwin Watts etc.
Have him try out some adult clubs by choking up a few inches.

I'd steer away from US Kids clubs, just because it will only last him a year at most.

He’s a Lefty so finding him stuff isn’t the easiest

My kid is a lefty.  If you know where to go you can find great deals on new and used stuff.  Back in the day I would by cheap used stuff and experiment.

Smaller 13 year old needs new clubs. Should I buy him a US Kids set or get him fitted at a pro shop? 60” tall and is showing real talent on the course. Shot an 82 and 80 from the reds at a local course.

With all this info, along with your Optishot readouts, it’s clear your son is ready for Adult clubs and shafts.  Optishot is great for estimating data (though not nearly as reliable as a Flightscope, Trackman, etc…), and it is safe to say your son is likely swinging 88-92 mph).

Moxie is an OK first set, but you’ll see gains with adult clubs and shafts. Heavy Hitter is an genuine authority on many things junior equipment and lefty-related.  Lean on that.

It’s great you are breaking your son in slow on the ladies tees, but at his age he should be playing from the “white tees”.  That he is able to overpower the reds with limited experience and equipment shows his talent.

Good lefty equipment can be found often 25-33% cheaper than righty.  Buying used will enable you to get your son into premium equipment for the cost of average equipment.
