What would you do?

Recommended Posts

Either let it roll of your back. or apologise to her

In real life, I like confrontation, but learnt over the years, to pick my punches. Knowing your were right is often enough, and you don't need to prove you were right all the time.

The rest of the people that work at the course know you are a good guy, the ranger knows you are good guy what value is there in expending energy getting the one day a week lady to know she got a story wrong? Then look at her view point, it is her job to control the sheet, she was never kept in the loop of the change that was made. She over-reacted, but she may be getting tired of people ignoring her, and you caught the brunt of it.

Now to the apology. If you really want to get into it with her, then say you were sorry. Go in and say "Sorry, about the confusion last week. The twosome asked me to go ahead. We should have let you know what was happening." That should clear the air. If she is a decent person she might by graceful about it, if not, move on.

Sometimes you just need to air a grievance.  I feel better about it today than I have all week, lol.  I think I am just going to move on and not say anything.  If she remembers and feels uncomfortable, well, not my problem.  I made an actual tee time tonight instead of just walking on, so there should be no confusion tonight.  And in the future that is what I will probably do on Friday nights.

"Good afternoon, Doris. I'm sorry about last Friday afternoon. I didn't mean to upset the system, but the two you sent me to play with didn't want to play with me, so I went off by myself. I hope we can still be friends."

this is the perfect suggestion.
if you’re not willing to do something like this - that’s pretty small

Sounds like good plan, have a fun round.

This is clearly the answer. Kill 'em with kindness. It isn't a "confrontation". I mean, maybe the lady in the pro shop has a point too.

Until you figure out what her problem is, you have no idea.

So, go and apologize. You weren't trying to do anything wrong. Ask, "to avoid this problem in the future, what would you prefer I do?"

In about 99% of situations, this approach will result in good things for you.

Well, if you feel OK with it all, that's all that should count.

I don't like confrontation myself but I dislike misunderstandings even more. You told us "She also told him that I come out there all the time and don’t check in with her before going out".

Your making a tee time seems to have zero to do with the misunderstanding or her (alleged) remarks to the ranger.

Personally, for that I would like to get some clarification - especially since I expect to be there every Friday.

It will may be interesting what happens this afternoon. Be sure to let us know how it works out. 👍

I’m in the camp of just move on. If you feel the need to bring it up I would say something like…

”Good evening, I just wanted to clarify what happen last week. I followed your instructions and the twosome suggested I go through. I’m just wanting to make sure you don’t think I was trying to beat the system or anything.”

Would take 30 seconds and you feel better about it afterwards. Either way enjoy your round tonight.

Is this real? Our "linebacker" cannot possibly be this insecure or sensitive to act like you were berated. You conjured up this scenario before even teeing off while waiting for the other group, then when someone said something you've compounded it into some fallacy in your mind. Move on with your life, please.

I ended up making 2 tee times yesterday. One for 5:48 because that is the soonest I can get there from work, then I was able to leave a bit early so I made one for 5.  My buddy got there before me and went in and checked in. When I was walking up he says I already got you checked in. I said I’m going in anyway. As soon as I stepped through the door, she says I already got you. I said thanks, but I need to cancel the 5:48. She said she already did so I turned around and went to the tee.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have no idea why people get on forums and post condescending remarks to others.  The thread title was "What would you do", not "what should I do".  For those the contributed in a positive manner, thank you.  And, since this is over with and I see no reason to revive it further, I am locking the thread.
