Didn't expect Brooke to be the 3rd best Canadian this week. A little too much pressure.

That would be an understatment, but an understandable one.   I have been watching the events the past two weeks leading up to this, and I strongly suspect that she never had the right amount of time to prepare herself.  She was kept busy with sponsor commitments the past 2 weeks and right up to Wednesday - the day before the event!

I guess we have different definitions of "phenom", I think this is exactly what a phenom should be doing, contending for wins at the pro level. I guess, the last teenage phenom's that come to mind are Lexi, Lydia and Brooke.

well she's got another year to match Brooke and I considered Jeeno a Phenom at that age and she didn't win on the LPGA till 19, maybe Anna should try that rout and get a win on the LET.

Then again she might turn Pro and try and make the Epson tour.  They changed the rule after Brooke or she was special but it seems now can play the Epson tour as a 17 year old.  With the driver length change when Whan went to the USGA maybe he just doesn't like Brooke and the Henderson's lol.  Then again she missed stage 1, does her play and accomplishments get her into stage 2 I wonder?

Not super surprising based on the course, Brooke is consistent in that if she struggles putting on a specific course it usually repeats itself.  It maybe home but the Hunt Club doesn't give her a break lol.   What's the other good course Royal Ottawa, maybe that would be a better course for her.   She did have a 63 in the 3rd round the first time she played it but all the other rounds were like this weeks.  She played fine tee to green for the most part outside 13. 44/52 fairways and 62/72 GIR but 31-32-33-33 putts, she just had a bad speed control week from what I could see, we'll see if it continues

I still don't understand the driver length rule.  If someone wants to try to compete at the highest level with a 50" driver, why not?  Nobody was dominating the driver stats with a really long driver, so what was the point in eliminating them as an option?

A player has to be at least 17 years old on December 31, 2022 to qualify to play Epson Tour in 2023.  Anna won't be 17 until March 17, 2023.

Also, to be exempted from Stage I, a player needs to be inside Rolex #400 on August 8, 2022.  Anna was outside of that.

By the way, Stage II entries has been posted.

I was a bit surprised to hear that Nelly could retake the world #1 spot with a win, but then Jin Young has definitely been in a bit of a slump lately. Back to back missed cuts and a 71T in her last three starts? 'Very un-JY like.

Danielle has a rough Sunday. 'Hope it's simply rust.

Ariya's best finish since the Lotte in April. Can't stop scratching my head.

I wondered about Paula Reto’s outfit.

Ukraine colors?

I'm guessing "not deliberate" w.r.t. Paula Reto's outfit and Ukraine colors

🇺🇦🤷‍♂️i.e. if she wore those colors as a deliberate/ conscious show of support for Ukraine

i'm guessing you would've seen mention of Ukraine in Paula's media interviews? (did a brief google-search & didn't get recent search hits ... maybe i missed it & you have better "google-fu" 🥋

I wear such colors when I go cycling or running... the yellow for visibility actually... the blue, well, i just like blue... and no red and black, esp when running at night 😆

A few days late writing this, but here goes:

Na Rin An and Hye Jin Choi were disappointing to me. These are both high pedigree players, no doubt, but with that lack of finishing I am not sure either will ever win on the LPGA.

Na Rin was flying, then decided to play defensive golf in the 3rd round. Then, as the tension started to rise, she developed a bizarre reverse pivot in her swing and hit a couple of shockers. And then...well we got to see why it is so important for her to hit fairways and greens!! I think she has to shake up her attitude to win.

There is something about Hye Jin I noticed in the very first round I ever watched her play (2018 I think), and that is although she is a very solid ball striker, she doesn't hit enough irons in tight. The very first day I watched her, she got -2 at Kooyonga in the Aussie Open, without a single shot close to being a mis-hit. She just didn't get the return on her ball striking. -2 was fine, of course, but after flushing everything for the entire round? And I feel that was replayed in this tournament.

This leads me to think that perhaps Korean golf in on the decline. I ❤️ A Lim Kim, and can watch her hit balls forever, but none of the current crop seem to have the finishing power of the previous generation.

Like the long putter the powers that be thought it looked bad. I also don't think they fully grasp why people hit the ball longer than they used to, especially highly trained professional athletes.

As a Canadian it's still a bit disappointing that the Canadian Open isn't a Major anymore (Evian, really?). Sure felt like one and was proud to see the big crowds.

Can't wait til next year when it comes back to the best ...I mean west coast.
