Best Short Courses in PNW

Me and the fam will be driving up from the SF Bay Area to Vancouver in September. Looking for some short courses my wife and I can play while we make our way up. We're travelling with a little one(11 months old) so I figure what makes the most sense is playing short courses (9 hole or executive) late in the afternoon that will let us get out there with our baby in tow. I'll also try to find time to play proper 18 holes here and there without the fam, but do also want to get some golf in with the wifey. 

 

Can fellow WRXers reccommend some good short courses on the way up? We'll be staying in Bend for a few days, perhaps at Sunriver Resort. Then probably Portland and Seattle areas. Also would appreciate some recs when in Vancouver. 

 

Does anyone also have experience playing with a kid in tow? I've never done it but in my mind it's feasible for 9 holes. If it's lunacy tell me now. 

 

Lastly, I'd like to visit the Nike employee store. if by any chance someone has an extra pass, i'd be very appreciative and can totally grab something for you while out there.

In Bend you have the Old Back Nine 9-hole course, and in the Beaverton area close to Nike you have Claremont Golf Course. Neither will be making any “best of” lists, but you could do a lot worse than either of these.

Summerfield in Tigard, OR (Portland area) is a good option.

Fairway Village in Vancouver, WA

There's a "Challenge Course" at Eagles Crest in Bend as well

+1 on the Challenge Course at Eagle Crest.  Great little executive course.

Sunriver has the Caldera Links, which is a nice, family-oriented short course.

 

Near Portland is Sah-Hah-Lee, which is two nines.

There's also the pitch-n-putt courses at McMenamin's Edgefield in Troutdale.

 

To Seamus' point above, none will make any Golf Digest lists, but they are all fun and low-key.

Eagle Crest also has an 18 hole putting course that can be played and enjoyed by any level or age. Combined with the Challenge course, they make the best family/beginners facilities in the area.

 

Sun River is its own semi-self contained area. It’s a very kid friendly location with lots of activities that don’t really exist in Bend. The 9 hole course in SR is perhaps better as a warm up for the main attractions, but it’s not really a children or beginners oriented track.

Probably the best one is closest to home - Northwood at Russian River. An Alister MacKenzie ripper.

Manzanita Golf Links is one of the best short courses I’ve ever played.
