The stadium idea, I'm not sure how that will work in a stadium. Hitting targets like Skillzone in the old Tiger Woods games? Playing a short par 3, closest to the pin again and again. Chipping contests? Would like to know more.

It'll be short game in the stadium and drives and approach on the simulator. I think. 6 teams....

This might be entertaining for 30 min on TV just because of the banter/back & forth between the players but Idk how they're going to make this fun or people sitting 100 yards away trying to watch them hit into a screen. Not to mention whos going to pay for a seat? Or concessions? Sounds like a swing & a miss...

 

Also, 2 months ago exhibitions and new golf formats were bad? So was guaranteed money? Weird how that changed.

Why does everything have to change and go high-tech?  One of the unique things about golf is the LACK of Jumbo-trons and all that nonsense.

 

This looks like a trip to Dave & Busters to watch someone play video games.

Just another attempt to sell golf as 'hip' and 'cool' for the valuable young advertising demographic.

For everyone complaining about LIV golf saying it's not real golf...exhibitions...teams...Tiger and Rory would never do something like that...They're only focused on Majors and Legacy....etc

Exactly.  Tiger, Rory, et al weren't mad about new formats to golf.  They were mad they weren't first to market with it.  All this talk about being not in it for the money and wanting to "grow the game" is mindless bilge.  This is 100% a business venture aimed at making a lot of money.  Don't get me wrong I am not against anyone doing that.  But Tiger and Rory announcing this now comes across as completely disingenuous.

I'm sure there were talks years ago as far as some kind of side project business venture.  That I believe.  But the idea that this particular endeavor took over 2 years to put together I don't believe that.  I also don't have any reason to take the establishmentarian golf class at their word.

Just remember that real golf played on courses is an existential threat to golf because it doesn't have a Q-school. But golf played on simulators is an important part of the future

I believe it's mostly generally accepted that LIV was originally proposed to co-exist and even partner with the tour, much in the same manner as this.

That was the PGL proposal with a different group of investors.  LIV "barrowed" PGL's ideas and struck out on their own.  That said, I don't LIV exists if the tour took the PGL more seriously.

It's exactly that, technology meets pgatour golf......I don't think that they're trying to supplant the Tour with the blessing of the Tout.
