I was walking scorer today for Annie, A. Uriell and Janie Jackson. Annie couldn't make a putt until her 16th hole then she made another on the 9th (her last) but she didn't seem to mind. Uriell was a bit hotheaded, however. Can't blame her as she started with 2 birdies but fell off. Jackson is a strong player but again, putting issues. All these gals ended over par.

Rough day for that group today. Annie can't avoid these bogeys. She seems to play well in the northeast and west coast, which is what she is familiar with, but struggles everywhere else. I hope she isn't injured which is what's plagued her pro career since it started.

Leona made a terrible miscalculation for this round, just shocking 🤦‍♀️

Forget her fine R1 score, but she should have had her sister Lisa on the bag (apologies Dermot Byrne, her regular caddie).

That's her identical twin sister Lisa.

Could have messed with her playing partner Brooke's mind, Brittany is 'only' a typical, standard older sister after all.

So this:

Image

is better than this?

Brooke and Brittany Henderson reunited on track after visa problem - Visas 4 Australia

Just kidding, I think Leona and Brooke are friendly, I've noticed that Leona occasionally likes some of Brooke's tweets.

Well, looks like the youngsters are running away with this one. As I write Hye-Jin Choi and Lucy Li are 8 under, Ruoning Yin and Wei-Ling Hsu (oldest at 27) are on 7 under and Ayaka Furue and Frida Kinhult just behind on 6 under.

Fresh faces making a statement here in round 2. We'll see if they can stay the course, or rather which can and which can't.

Nice round by Lucy, I think she'll hold up well on the weekend she's been winning and playing well throughout the year.  Hye Jin Choi lurking again but she's gotta make it easier on herself and do better than -1 today.

Lydia didn't have the day she wanted, probably me jinxing her by picking her.   After Brooke signs her scorecard on Sunday, Brittney is gonna give her a smack after she realizes how much more money the 5 hole glitch she had closing her round on Thurs., cost her this week lol

Looks like things are getting firmer and faster, I doubt the afternoon will pass Lucy probably a big group bunched within 5-6 shots and if it gets firmer and faster should be a fun weekend.

What the heck happened to Brooke? Off the rails on her closing nine. Ouch.

I noticed during the live coverage she only missed one fairway but she didn't look comfortable to me and the driver fell apart at the end, she missed her last 4 fairways and most likely in the drink on 9.  I image she's fuming right now, even par on the last 5 hole instead five over and she's at -9 rather than -4.  Golf's tough lol.

I'll be honest, I didn't expect to see Lucy leading a tournament, at least not this early in her career. Seems to know her game, and play it.

Paula shot under par today, so props to her.  She won't win again, but give a couple starts she can string a couple good rounds together.

Likewise, Bianca Pagdanganan shot -2 after shooting +9 yesterday.

But, Bianca is running out of time.  She has at most six more tournaments to earn at least 200 "Race to CME Globe" points to get inside Top-100 ranking.  It's mandatory that she shoots under par from now on.

Hats off to Lucy Li's -7 round!  It's exceptional on a day when both Lydia Ko and Minjee Lee are over par.

Great Round 2 by Lucy Li.  I was happy to see that Mariah Stackhouse is taking advantage of her late addition to the field - not sure who she replaced.  I understand she didn't arrive until Wednesday so she had no course practice before Round 1.  She was playing with Lucy Li, so maybe that was inspiration...?  Who knows, but she made her 2nd cut of the season.

What's going on with Su Oh? 7 missed cuts in a row.

Best wishes to Lauren Kim. Could she be a player that was just a few years before NIL(that championship Stanford certainly would have benefited)? And a season or so before Ladies LIV, which could have given her more LPGA opportunities and a more successful career?

Minjee sure got an unlucky break on the 18th. She would have likely had a decent chance for birdie, but hung on for a tough bogey.

They should put little pieces of carpet on the sprinkler heads during tournaments. 🙂

I wonder if Lydia's game is good enough to win 3x a year again?  Not saying she can sustain it for several years in a row like before but she is leading the tour in Top 10s and is 2nd in a lot of stats.

Perhaps she just needs to hit 5-10 better drives per week and that will be the difference (from afar, hard to say where all of her lost shots are coming from)?  So get hot or control the misses for a few weeks and that is enough?  Possibly to the surprise of some, her driving distance is now at (only) 254 yards / below median.

She has a Stanford degree and is a NCAA champion; life has been good.  Students go for their MBA degree 3-4 years after college; she's a little be late but she's a great story to tell.

Kelly Shon, Kelly Shon '14 - From Princeton to the LPGA Tour, quitted LPGA after 2018 season.  She is now with Point72, a most successful Hedge Fund.  She used to make $300,000 - $400,000 from the tour with heavy expenses; she likely doubles that now with no expenses.

Jin Young Ko is the only player who sort of did it:

2017 - 2018                      2   wins

2019                                  4

2020                                  1

2021                                  5

2022                                  1

Lydia may do it this or next year; we'll see.

How do you sort of win three times a year, when you really only win once?

Don't let the fanboys(me included) fool you, Su is not superstar material by any means. Me thinks theres a lot of girls out there who need a reality check, maybe a season on the Epson tour in hope's of contending or winning some events. A little spike in confidence.

Jin Young won once as a non-member in 2017; she joined the tour in 2018

She's won 13 times in 4+ years; that's close to 3x a year.  Remember, 2020 was a shortened season.

Let's be honest here and put favorites aside, Bianca needs to lose her card. Hire a new coach in the off season, and pull herself together. Play a season on the Epson or wherever and figure things out.

I assumed you were averaging that, but I'm thinking @agolf1 was literally meaning winning 3 times each year.

I got off the "Su Oh has potential" train a couple of season ago and I was on it for few years before that.  The thing about train is it just goes in circles and is never brought it home.

😂 I hear ya. There once was a flicker of hope, but it likely fizzled out. I'll keep chugging on down the tracks and hope for the best. With players like Paula R, Pernilla, Sophia, Ash Buhai winning I like to think Su will have her day, someday...
