Pour one out for my chances in my Member/Guest

My partner and I are a combined 0.5 away from our career low indexes.   A week ago he proudly showed me that he dropped a 72 to bump his index up to 3.3.  Then he went on a golf trip and posted a 67 and a 70.  Now he is at a 1.6 and I am at a 4.3.  We are now likely playing in the top flight against ex-college players and their ex-college playing partners.  Yes we will get a few pops, and we are both basically peaking from a performance perspective.  But it is going to be a grind trying to eek out a 6-4 victory in each match against good players.

 

Keep us in your thoughts.

It has to feel satisfying that you will be playing in the top flight.  That is what we all want....to beat the best!

For sure it is a good problem to have.   But the weekend just went from "Lets have some fun", to "man-I-have-to-get-this-up-and-down-and-dont-embarrass-yourself".

 

Not that the second flight stinks or anything, but me going head to head with 2 of the last 3 club champions was not on my to-do list.  Hnadicaps locked on the 15th.  No way I drop my next score by then.  Maybe my buddy can drop a 72 by then, as long as he does not replace it with a 71 or lower!

It sounds like your team will be the underdogs in the championship flight.  The pressure to play well will be on the former club champions, so they don't lose a match to the underdogs.  You will be expected to lose, so play your game, and enjoy the round.  Who knows, the club champions might have an off day.

Could be worse... My club takes your lowest index over the past 6 months. Considering I've been playing like hot garbage the last few weeks I don't feel great about our odds 🤣

I like that idea. I've known players to sandbag near championships or big money rounds near the end of the year. "Hey, you did it once, you can do it again..."
