Kirk Triplett - WITB 2022 Ascension Charity Classic (PGA Tour Champions)

Recommended Posts

It looks like on the back of his i230 8 iron that there is some separation where the weight or back plate meets the rest of the club.  Just below the i230 but on the other side where there is grass sticking out.  Is it dented in or separated?  Just wondering if that is a possible design flaw if it separates or can get pushed in some how!

What in the world is going on with the sole of his putter? I'm guessing that's some sort of weight... block?... that's been epoxied in place? It seems to make the putter sit a ways off the ground, though.

I have seen this on Cink's as well.  It doesn't look flush across.

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

I have a feeling that the i230 will be great, but will also continue the legacy of PING irons with CTP inserts falling off. The inserts on these look like they are hanging on by a thread.

You guys sure put alot of effort into seeing things.....that just don't matter

For $1500+ it sure does concern us about buying or even owning them.

If there was anything remotely close to the concerns about the back badge.......I'm 100% positive Tripp,  Cink & every other player currently bagging i230 - would NOT play them if the back badge, is somehow defective or not consistent in feel etc

Aldila never released those new ATX Blue and Green shafts....they look cool!  I think they came out in 2019 so already pretty dated.

Oh for the days when you bought a Ping club and that was that for twenty years. Even a sand wedge.

Nothing was stopping that club short of a tactical nuke. It just kept going. It was like a golfing version of Max Rockatanski's Ford Falcon. Indestructable. No stuck on bits. No inserts. No medallions that came loose. It was just a lump of hard wearing metal. Tumbled. No plating. Even the stampings looked like something on an ammunition box you found at the roadside in Basra.
