I would find one that suits your eye in terms of offset. I find that older Titleist heads have bit more offset than modern versions. Its been a long time since I hit the 981 990 but I think those have bit more offset too.

... I still have a soft spot in my heart for the 762B's. I started out combo'ing 690MB in the pw-8 but after several rounds I tried the 762B pw-8 and they stayed in the bag. They would be in my top 10 irons of all time and I have played around 50 sets.

They've got a pleasing face profile at address. The toe's a nice shape. Not Mizuno-shaped; a bit more rounded. The heel flows nicely into the hosel, and the offset is just right. Enough, but not too much. Crucially, not too little, as is the case with the more recent Titleist blade lines. You'll struggle to find a set on your budget, but 681s are my answer.

All are great. I have own/owned 8 different sets of Titleist irons ranging from old tour model blades with diamonds on the face, to original DCI Blacks, 990’s, 690.mb (personal fave), 804’s, 710 AP1, 716 AP2, 718 CB, 19 T100 and 21 T100 (current gamers =also fave). Let’s not get into Scotty’s.

So did I. They were fantastic irons. I bought them new with S300’s, moved the X100’s, and settled on KBS Tour 120’s. I only retired them when the first generation T100 was released. So, so good. More offset than I like but that didn't seem to matter when it came to playability.

For older CB's, I'm a 690/690.CB fan.  For MB's, I just dig the look and feel of the 660s.

I'm an outlier. 710MB. Still have them. Although the 7 and 9 don't have much in the way of grooves.
