So i had a pretty good year with my PXGs. Started slowly but really came on mid-season. At one point i shot 76 or better in 20 consecutive rounds and got my handicap into + territory again. I'm at 0.1 right now....

 

I finished 3rd in my clubs match play and 4th in my club's stroke play club championship, also finished 2nd and 3rd in the two biggest 2-man team comps our club does. So all in all, good year. And why not change clubs when everything is working AMIRIGHT

 

The 0211 3-wood will soldier on because frankly, i've never hit a 3 wood better. To put it in perspective i didn't lose a single ball in 7 club championship rounds this year on a course that is about 74-75 in rating with a lot of OB. I can hit it 240-250 yards into a box.

 

My Deschamps putter will also continue on, because i mean.....Look at it....

I love the 0211 3-wood. In terms of head shape it's a little on the larger side....but the feel and forgiveness is out of this world. And it's really well balanced too imo , just so easy to swing.

That putter is so nice! Love the character in the finish, and great to see a smooth face….which I find superior to the overdone milled stuff. Awesome.

Haha, you and Serge would be best friends. He's like "flat faces are better Jeff! Im not doing any of that milled stuff" 

 

Gotta hand it to him though the putter is the bomb. It's my favorite one I've ever used by a wide margin including his older ones

The head is a little on the big side so you have to be ok with that. Kinda like the PM grind from Callaway without the high toe, but it's a large head

 

But I spin the bejesus out of it so far. Far more than my PXG or Cobra MIM or Glides. Only thing comparable would be my Vokey SM wedges. 

 

Nice flat leading edge too, so that is nice. 

 

I'm pretty wedge agnostic. So far I like them

My back hurts just looking at this picture.  I haven't generated that much spinal torque in 30 years, if every.

what do you think of your sub 70's. I work on clubs for my towns Play It Again SPorts and they had me put together like 50 of the wedges, they seem like they are nice, maybe a little on the hard side. What do you think?

I really like the JB wedges so far. I used PXG 0311 and Vokey SM8 most of this year, i wouldn't say they feel much different in terms of being hard. I find i spin the LW a ton so i get a bit lower trajectory but a lot of bite. This could be because it's very new.

Buying a new bag and custom headcovers is what i do to get me through the winter, i need to wait until like December before i do that LOL....But i DO need to start thinking about what theme to go with in 2023.

 

This year the Wu-Tang covers were nice. But they got nowhere near as many questions as the 2020 Reagan/Bush '84 headcovers.

Btw, this is the putt I made on 18 in my CC (ummmm, to finish ...4th but yeah).

 

But there was a really big crowd and it was a huge bender. Hard to tell from the pic but look how slanted I look standing. The green is like a ski hill

haha that's awesome

 

It's a brutal hole cause it's elevated kinda like the 13th at Torrey, and the green is a big slope from back to front. You are rarely coming in from less than 135. Front flags are very tough

Jeff, I swear you and I go through similar cycles of equipment changes. I've had the 0211 ST's in the bag since last year and love them. No real reason to change until I noticed the Sub 70 659 TC's a month or so ago. What made you decide to go for the CB's instead of the TC's? 

 

I'm having a hard time getting an idea of what the 659's look like at address. The pictures on the website make it look like there is a lot of grooveless room in between the hosel and the start of the grooves but there's just no way they actually look like that. What say you? 

 

Also, did you order through the Canadian website or the main guys in the US? I've found the US guys to be phenomenal and the Canadian guy to be, how do I say this, awful.

I'll give my input here because I have the JB 60 full groove (and I have the 56 JB on the way). The heads are light, which I like, as I can play the wedges longer and the swing weight doesn't get out of control. My 60 is 1/2" over length with an S300 and swing weight is still only D4. The feel out of the middle is a heavy thud, that Henrik Stenson or Bryson type strike feeling/sound. Only in the middle though. If it's not right in the middle, you know it. I don't buy clubs based on how they feel on mis hits though. I want ones that feel awesome out of the middle. 

 

I love the grind on the standard JB full groove. Any other manufacturer would call it a low bounce option with a blunded leading edge. It's that perfect combo of being able to play anything off tight lies but also know the wedge won't dig. I have the 60 LB version coming next week and I'm curious how that grind will be different. The standard grind is already so low bounce. PING wedges look like they have about 45 degrees of bounce compared to the JB's.

Haha, i like to be different.....people at my club i think find it funny. They don't know like half the brands i've played LOL

 

I got the CB's because i'm a lefty so didn't have the option. Though truthfully i probably would have gotten them anyway. I wanted a little more launch out of my 4-5 irons. I hit the ST's well but i'm always looking for more launch. I play a low draw so holding greens from like 180-205 is something i'm always looking to get better at.

 

The CB is a pretty appealing clubhead. I would describe it as having very sharp, defined edges. The leading edge you could cut toast with. Feel is really nice and you don't really see the cavity at address with any of the clubs except maybe a tiny bit with the 3 iron.

 

Check out this pic, hope it helps!  I dealt with Jim in Vancouver, i got the impression he was a little busy as i usually waited a couple of days for responses. But he was good, he ended up calling me and going over everything with me, and i found him really invested in it, like how he described the clubs and stuff when i was asking him about wedges. Hard to compete with PXG's customer service which is phenomenal

I'm kinda surprised how well i've hit the 0311 driver the past couple of weeks. I swore to myself i'd give it the ol' college try after buying it earlier in the year for my birthday (my wife is not allowed to buy me golf stuff---though to her credit she did once get me Chrome Softs with my daughter's name on it that i used for a few tournaments

 

The 0211 is easier for me to turn over , but i'm getting used to a straighter, higher ball flight with the 0311. I'm gonna keep trying to make it work so it's not a total loss

 

The 0211 driver just has a bit of that Ping like closed toe, which i find super appealing

 

0311 is a bit more classic shape
