Ping G430 Woods/Hybrids

There's been a lot of chatter, so I figured I'd start a thread. A lot of early discussion about the possibility of a carbon-fibre crown.

 

But Ping have also trademarked "2041 Beta TI". What's interesting about that is a cold-press titanium alloy. 20% vanadium, 4% aluminium, 1% tin - that's how you get "2041". So I think it's fair to say they've at least considered finding a different material for faces, and one that may age into a slightly harder version of itself. The properties are interesting, but I do not know enough about 2041 to have any conversation about it. Thus, I started a thread.

 

Should be an interesting release, and it's apparently scheduled in the early 2023 window per usual.

Ping have been due a leap forward. G410 to G425 was a minor increment. G425 hybrids were a backward step.

Hopefully that 2041 also doesn't refer to the weight in grams or sound level in db.

G425 driver was and still is the best of the bunch with the right shaft for me. Sound isn't the best , HOTMELT goes a long way in this one,  but if I'm hitting consistent fairways from all over the face , sounds a moot point and in this case not a mute one.

No the rep came to my work and showed me them as he had the other staff earlier in the week. They are under embargo for a while yet so I can’t give anything away other than that they were very nice looking and I think they will be a hit when they come out.

G430 is injected with a new aluminum compound in a procedure they’re calling BCT.

It stand for Beer Can Technology. Basically they’re taking the cans from popular domestics (Bud Light, Busch, Coors, PBR) and stuffing them inside the head to produce an amplified version of that classic and beloved Ping metal sound.

I can't wait for this one to drop, just hope the accent colors are not that ugly yellow/green.

Saw the new line a week ago. Sound was a focus. They are super pumped about the LST line. 

 

I won't say much more because PING get's pretty protective over any leaked info! I'm hoping for a solid line from them though.

They need have it as a focus.  The sound is horrible as everyone knows and their driver spin like crazy.  I love the matte look, not a fan of the turbulators, but the head shape and deep face are great.

 

Please a true low spin, dull thud-sounding head.

Seems clear that instead of just a performance characteristic, they're using the LST as a differentiator in product and pricing.

 

Interesting, really. I'm not sure I want to go away from my 410 because the weight screws on the outside have been such a game changer. Some of you call it Animal-Style, but I have two 10gr on the outsides. Yes, could hot-melt it, but I can change these on demand. It made the head far more stable at impact, and I saw an immediate dispersion improvement. I'm shorter by a little bit, but far, far more consistent.

 

If I can't put the mass on the head where I want it, easily, why change?
