That seems really strange to me.  Why not highlight it on all models.  I would think there would be an opportunity to manipulate CG on their more forgiving models with a carbon crown and hopefully making them faster.  But, maybe the weight savings is negligible on those.  I don't know.  I am a lot less excited about this release than I was yesterday now haha.  Unless there are some major changes under the hood, it seems like just a 425 with new color scheme (which I do not like).

Forging the entire body of a driver in one piece with a hollow body isn't possible.  You have to drop forge it in three pieces then fuse it together.  Much easier to cast the body and drop forge the face.

I didn't say one piece forging. I said the metal of a driver as in each component (face, crown, body)

You read my mind Dill.  If I may add to your incredible summary, I hope that at least half the 15 moveable weights are held in place by either magnets, or velcro, and that there is a Limited Edition Ping Ziploc bag to hold any weights not being used.  #turbulators #spinskin

I dk how I feel about those images. Definitely don't love the look if that's really it. However, with that being said, it's ping, no one buys ping for the sex appeal. Not to mention it's the bottom of the club, so I won't have to look at it. If it performs better and sounds better, then it can be forgiven imo. Don't really understand why they would do carbon for the lst and not the max, but we'll see what happens. Taking all these rumors with a grain of salt.

There's no MAX/SFT/LST markings, and the reflections on the chrome bits with a edited balck background to make it look 'studio picture'-esque seem super odd. Either these are edits or were images from the concept stage.

If they're photoshopped, they went to exceptional detail to get the reflection of trees into the reflective areas.

 

Count me as these are real, but maybe not fully final. I bet they're functionally the same.

The black was thrown in intentionally to block out the background, too easy to tell where the photo was taken at. But I know what you mean it does make it look a little sketchy now that I fully look at it 😂

The person I know that has seen them in person told me they were shown pre-production models.

I have zero factual information.  What I'm about to say is pure conjecture.  With Ping always maintaining that carbon actually has a net negative weight advantage due to the shelves and glue I wonder if that is why no carbon on the Max?  The 425LST has actually morphed into the game improvement realm for MOI. You would think Ping could use carbon on the LST and afford to give up some MOI and it still be a great driver. It might not be possible for the Max to be a 5600+ MOI with carbon? 

 

Then again Ping may have done it for cost savings?  Who knows. Guess we will find out in the next couple of months.

It seems like a G425 with a different color. Not much different than what you have in your bag.
