Wonder if they can take the bat technology and apply it to the face technology of the drivers to give them more pop?  🧐

That is my point. When there are folks in the building who understand metal technology don't you think they should put their heads together..Hopefully they did.

He is still a tour player!

That's true but tour players also test products all the time that don't necessarily end up in their bags.  I'm excited to see if he keeps it in play or it was just a trial run and he goes back to something else.

Kinda dig the look if nothing else. Reminds me of a TM Stealth from address, a Ping G410/425 from face on, and the sole reminds me of a 983K.

If they can get the CoR to near .830, and get some weight on the perimeter no reason these shouldn’t keep up with the big boys. At least I would think!

I have had numerous 'Wilson Staff' clubs in my bag over the years. Currently gaming the c300 forged and w/s wedges. However, when the brand Wilson introduced and began stamping their clubs with both 'Wilson' and 'Wilson Staff'(badge), it cheapened the look of the club. 'Wilson' clubs over the past 20-25 years were box sets or value line clubs for beginners and the W/S line up was always for better amateur's and pro's it seems. I'm in the Chicago burbs and Tour Edge (also in the burbs) just smokes Wilson on almost level when it comes to their clubs.

mikey mentioned on the latest txg live that theywill be comming with velocore shafts as a stock option, might sway some people over to try them

I think he just said Ventus. Didn’t specify whether they would be “real deal” Ventus or not. Obviously TaylorMade and Tour Edge have non-VeloCore stock Ventus options so it could be something like that.

Mike from TXG stated that they would be "Ventus" shafts "the same as Taylormade have done"... meaning that they are the non-Velocore options.... I don't think anyone will ever have those as a stock option as the sticker price for a Wilson driver w/Velocore will turn most buyers away

I like the looks and shape. I'd play it.. Then again, I've been hitting a Honma for the last 3 years.

I feel that most see Wilson and automatically go negative. It really wouldn't matter what they put out, except for the blades because those pull on nostalgic strings.

Correct and so many people are missing out.  The irons are as good or better than anything we carry in our shop....the WS Blade is the best out there for the 20% of golfers who can game them

I love the look of the latest CB's and am considering switching to them from my T100s. I heard that the new 8802 sold out in pre-orders. The Triad ball was a winner for me and I like their gloves. Wilson does a lot of things well, but will likely never be perceived as cool around here. It's hard to hold on to branding that dates from the 1940s even if the clubs are as good as anything else out there.

I wouldnt be surprised if it goes the way of the WLabs driver, unfortunately.  I would love to see it come to retail!

They don't plan to axe it. It is in production. I know a couple of instructors who have tested it and liked it enough to get one. Just wasn't sure of official launch date. It is Wilson and marketing doesn't  seem to be their thing.

I think they still need a STAFF driver. They use the STAFF name prominently on the new putter collection, blades, CB's, glove, ball, wedge. By doing a real kick butt driver they perhaps can separate Wilson Golf from Wilson Staff.

Tour Edge seems to do okay with their woods - If Wilson made a model to compete in the low spin category and a model to compete in the forgiving category - I would think people would be willing to give them a look as long as their were a slightly cheaper price point.  If they release this driver and its $599, obviously the should not bother.  But if it is $349 or $399, and it competes with the Taylormade's and Titleists of the industry - I would think they would get some looks.  Would they make money at that price point?  Not sure.  I would guess the margins would be slim, but they gotta break in somehow.

That is how Cobra gained traction.  They made an excellent driver (f9) at a cheaper price point - and now they are doing incredibly well.

I think that Wilson would have no issues making money at that price point. They own the composite bat space with DeMarini and Lewisville Slugger. I'd bet they have more buying power than the golf companies.

The last Wilson driver I played was the wood Whale, I think I only got one because Payne Stewart was supposedly using it at the time. I would definitely give this a shot, to me looks like something from when Titanium drivers were first coming out.... back when I could hit the ball. Nostalgia! 🙂

I thought the D7 driver was very good. Felt and sounded excellent, as in better than the vast majority of drivers. Liked the shape a lot, very classic. But it only came in a bonded hosel and the stock shafts were weak and that hurt. Address those shortcomings and sell it for $300 and Wilson might surprise.

I have found Wilson fairway woods and hybrids to be sneaky good over the last decade, starting with the Fybrid line in '08 and then really knocking it out of the park with the FG tour F5 line of which I still have a 3W and a hybrid. The looks and marshmallow feel of those clubs are awesome to me, and I have an out of nowhere 285yd drive with the 3W the likes of which I'll probably never see again.

Having owned the D300 and C300 drivers (liking but not loving either) and demoed the Cortex (loving but not able to justify buying) I will be more than curious about the Dynapower (Pwr? Seriously? Come on.) It will be interesting to see if it can knock my Z785 out of the bag.

The F5 line of woods were good for sure. I’ve still got the 3 wood which is like new, the 5 wood I’ve used since it was new and also still have the 3 hybrid. They were as good as anything I tried at the time they were new! The old d100 driver was a beast when it was new as well! I was very impressed by it when the guy at EW handed it to me and said “here, don’t look at it,just hit it”! That’s when I became a fan of W/S golf equipment!

Really hoping they knock it off with the bonded crap. Moving weights are fine to skip out on for cost, but having no adjustability is just a non-starter these days. Regardless of price.

You can always count on Wilson to deliver a stupid club name

No more stupid than what comes out of the Callaway or TaylorMade marketing department.
