24 hours to hit a hole in one from 125 yards - $10 million if you do, but 1 year in jail if you don't...

I mean obviously it's a fictional situation but my understanding was if you failed to make the hole in one, you'd have to commit a crime right after

Like when George was with the Van Buren Boys in Seinfeld, like "hey mang, you gotta rob the next person that walks by"

that sort of thing

lol, I guess we would need to have that point clarified.

I think the topic should now be titled, "24 hours to get an ace or you have to car jack the next person you see"   🙂

Let’s go with grand theft of $50,000 of golf clubs from a PGA Superstore, caught on camera and pleading no contest to 364 nights in a medium security pen.

How’s that one?

At least you could say “I lost a bet” to future employers.

Well my experiment continues, another 2 hours in so now only 18 hours left. Again around 200 balls in 2 hours and a lot of decent shots but not that elusive ace.

Video below is some tracers from the session - excuse the hand held shakiness, I will see if I can rig something better up for next time. The noise is from other range users around me - I promise that fat shot you can hear was not me this time

Stay to the end for heartbreak...

Another 2 hours in and not much improvement, still no ace and nothing closer than 18 inches this time. Final 2 shots on the video - almost jarred one and then the last one - aaargh

I feel it is in there, so many within 2 feet that I didn't record. Ever the optimist, I will continue on

"If you had 24 hours to hit a hole-in-one -- if you made it, you get $5 million, if you miss it you go to jail for a year -- would you do it?" pondered Caroline Ponessa with Waggle Golf. "We said how crazy would it be to actually do this thing?"

But, while many failed, at least one lucky golfer converted on the challenge. We were on the course as Mitch Martinez took a swing and canned the shot. He walked away with $500 worth of golf gear from Waggle.

Not quite the same since it wasn't just one person. Would love to know some details of this: how many shots were hit in total, yardage, etc.

One more 2 hour session yielded nothing closer than 1 foot 5 inches, down to 14 hours left and orange is just not my colour  😂

No work this morning so took the opportunity to grab another hour at the range.

 oh so close

Ran out of my allotted hour but the next person was not there so grabbed a few more balls…

then the magic happened, clipped one away and you know when you’ve really nailed the shot, come on, come on tracking in on the flag in real life, turn to stare at screen, pitches just short and rolls into the cup. No video am afraid as phone had gone to sleep image instead to show it done

Hole in One

Mission accomplished with 13 hours to spare. No orange jumpsuit for me

Overall 11 hours taken over an extended period of time and I reckon in the order of 1500 balls to get there, in the end for me the fuller shot with 48 degree wedge was my most reliable effort.

And yes I will be buying a lottery ticket to see if I can turn that virtual $10million into some real world cash

Bravo!  I like two limes in my gin & tonic...

Thanks for doing this experiment.  It was so much fun to follow along.

Any comments on if you had to do this exercise for 24 straight hours?

Totally depends on where the prison sentence is served and whether it would carry a post incarceration stigma that is the norm in present society.

Standard prison & stigma - Absolutely not!

White collar & no stigma - Would consider if I had a month to train my muscles. Would predict a steady technique decline hours 4-6.

Apologies, been away on vacation.

To me the biggest challenges would be hands and back. It's not a huge effort every shot but it would just be the accumulated effort that you would not be used to. That would likely impact your form and so decrease the chances of making the ace. Mentally I'd break down the effort into 2 hour blocks with a rest break for coffee and a snack between blocks rather than just stand up there for ever and ever. Would be an interesting experiment if anyone has access to a simulator which could be used for the full 24 hours

I was going to say a whole year off with 3 meals a day (crappy or not, 3 at the same time every day, plus lots of quiet)  I hope I don't make it. 😆

I don't think most of you realize how demeaning, demoralizing and limiting jail is. Not to mention how dangerous.  You may not get back home to see those kids.

It sure as hell isn't quiet either.  Dudes are yelling all damn night.  Most of them stuff their ears with toilet paper to drown out the noise, and the rest get on Psych meds to help them sleep.

    • In-hand photos of 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, Stealth 2, Stealth 2 HD drivers + fairways woods
Check out our front page launch stories here and here.

What you need to know: For the first time, carbon is the most prevalent material by volume in a TaylorMade driver, and more carbon equals better performance, says the company. Last year, TaylorMade debuted a 60X Carbon Twist Face. With TaylorMade Stealth 2, engineers are bringing carbon to more of the golf club — and unveiling a new-and-improved Carbon Twist Face in the process. Stealth 2 Plus (low spin, most workable) Stealth 2, and Stealth 2 HD (draw bias, high launch, most forgiving) drivers make up the Stealth 2 family.

      Stealth 2

      Stealth 2 HD

What you need to know: Breakthrough movable weight technologies and versatile designs are the hallmarks of the 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway woods. Stealth 2 Plus is branded as “three fairway woods in one” owing to the unique performance characteristics afforded by the 50-gram sole weight. Stealth 2 features a slightly lower profile 3D carbon crown than Stealth. This moves CG down and away from the toe with more weight in the rear of the club for higher launch and MOI. Ultra-high MOI Stealth 2 HD features an oversized 200cc head and low-profile sole, creating an easy-to-hit, draw-biased club.
